<p>Join Hicks Nurseries - Long Island's Largest Garden Center!</p> <p>Located in Westbury, NY | $40 Million Annual Revenue | Retail & Wholesale & Landscape Design & Build</p> <p>Hicks Nurseries, the premier retail and wholesale garden center on Long Island, is looking for Nursery Yard Team Members for our busy Spring season!!</p> <ul> <li>up to 40 hours a week available - MUST be able to work Saturdays* </li></ul> <p>With a proud legacy in the industry, Hicks offers a fast-paced, friendly environment where collaboration and high standards are central to how we work.</p> <p>The seasonal Nursery Team Member plays a key role in daily nursery operations by assisting with customer service, plant care, merchandise receiving, and yard maintenance. This position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and safe operation of equipment while following established processes and procedures.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Customer Service</p> <p>o Cheerfully greet customers and provide a welcoming experience.</p> <p>o Assist customers by answering questions, offering guidance, and directing them as needed.</p> <p>o Load purchased merchandise into customer vehicles.</p> <p>o Pull plant material for customer pickup and delivery orders.</p> <p>Merchandise Receiving</p> <p>o Assist with receiving incoming merchandise in accordance with established procedures.</p> <p>o Ensure accurate handling and placement of plant material.</p> <p>Plant Care & Merchandising</p> <p>o Assist in maintaining plant inventory, including watering, spacing, and general plant care.</p> <p>o Help with yard organization, signage, and visual presentation of merchandise.</p> <p>Work Area Maintenance</p> <p>o Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and the general nursery.</p> <p>o Follow documented processes and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient environment.</p> <p>Equipment Operation</p> <p>o Safely operate electric carts and other relevant equipment.</p> <p>o Safely operate machinery and vehicles such as forklifts or skid steers (training provided by Hicks Nurseries)</p> <p>Position Preferences</p> <ul> <li>High school degree or equivalent </li></ul> <p>Additional Eligibility Requirements (e.g. certifications, industry-specific experience and/or experience working with certain equipment)</p> <ul> <li>Valid, clean driver's license </li><li>Hicks Nurseries forklift certification required </li><li>Hicks Nurseries skid steer certification required </li></ul> <p>Ability to verbally communicate effectively in English</p> <p>Work Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Near-constant physical activity required, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, squeezing, and grasping. </li><li>Must be able to consistently lift 25-40 lbs. independently and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Must be able to push/pull wheeled carts of 400 lbs. consistently. </li></ul>
