<p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Shop Mechanic is a non-exempt position responsible for repairing, servicing, and maintaining all the</p> <p>equipment the company owns (vehicles, diesel, gas, small engine).</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and small engines in the fleet to </li></ul> <p>include but not limited to, changing tires, oil, grease, transmission fluid, and antifreeze.</p> <ul> <li>Perform tune ups, brake jobs, and other preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and other </li></ul> <p>powered rolling and non-rolling equipment.</p> <ul> <li>Test equipment following completed repair to ensure proper performance and compliance with </li></ul> <p>operating specifications.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, A/C, brake systems, fuel </li></ul> <p>systems, and hydraulic systems.</p> <ul> <li>Use diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices to </li></ul> <p>determine required malfunctions and necessary repairs.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for service documentation and ordering parts. </li><li>Ensuring cleanliness of work area as well as the CK yard which may include moving equipment </li></ul> <p>and vehicles, loading and unloading material, and repositioning inventory.</p> <ul> <li>Will work in the shop mainly and at job sites on occasion when necessary. </li><li>Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met. </li><li>Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions </li></ul> <p>for job completion as requested.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain attendance at work, including presence at work during regular work hours or other </li></ul> <p>schedules as may be assigned. Acceptance of overtime assignments will also be required based</p> <p>on operational needs.</p> <p>Experience and Requirements</p> <ul> <li>The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of diesel, mechanical and automotive experience; </li></ul> <p>Heavy automotive experience a plus.</p> <ul> <li>Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, electronic controls, and computer based diagnostic </li></ul> <p>systems.</p> <ul> <li>CDL Class A license a plus. </li><li>Good driving record and insurable by vehicle insurance company. </li><li>Ability to perform repairs and maintenance in the field and shop settings. </li><li>Must be able to read, interpret, and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics along with </li></ul> <p>service manuals to help diagnose issues to be able to make repairs.</p> <ul> <li>Welding and fabrication experience preferred. </li><li>Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools. </li><li>Basic Computer Skills (email and web browser). </li><li>Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company </li></ul> <p>policies and safety standards; Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck</p> <p>maintenance, and road safety regulations.</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to work with others to achieve company results; Have the ability to think critically </li></ul> <p>to analyze information and make sound decisions.</p> <ul> <li>Effective communication with other mechanics, truck drivers and field personnel is critical, both </li></ul> <p>verbally and nonverbally; this includes the ability to listen to the ideas of others.</p> <ul> <li>Must have reliable transportation to be at work when scheduled and have the ability to travel. </li></ul> <p>Periodic evenings, nights and weekends, and overtime hours are expected.</p> <ul> <li>Must wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long </li></ul> <p>pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image.</p> <ul> <li>Continuous mental and visual attention is necessary to safely and effectively complete work </li></ul> <p>tasks.</p> <ul> <li>Must own and maintain own set of tools and toolbox. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat </li></ul> <p>twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights up</p> <p>to 12 feet from ground level. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly</p> <p>and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes walking on sloped ground and</p> <p>slippery and uneven surfaces, at times.</p> <ul> <li>This job requires the ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable conditions. These </li></ul> <p>may include but are not limited to performing strenuous work in varying temperatures,</p> <p>humidity, sand, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of</p> <p>time.</p> <ul> <li>Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel </li></ul> <p>fumes, vapors, dust, grease, and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to</p> <p>moving equipment.</p> <p>Employees are expected to follow all OSHA and company policies to minimize accidents and injuries to</p> <p>personnel and property.</p> <p>Job sites are located within a 70 mile radius of the greater Charlotte metro area.
