<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>The University of South Carolina is seeking an Executive Director of Student Health & Medical Director to serve as the physician leader for Student Health Services. This role provides strategic, clinical, and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, student-centered healthcare across primary care, women's health, sports medicine, allergy and immunization, pharmacy, laboratory, and student insurance services. Reporting to the Chief Health Officer & Associate Vice President of Student Health and Well-Being, the Executive Director champions best practices in college health and advances an integrated, comprehensive model of care.</p> <p>At USC , you'll join a dynamic, student-focused environment where your leadership directly supports student success, well-being, and the overall campus experience. You'll collaborate with dedicated professionals across the university and play a key role in shaping the future of student health.</p> <p>Strategic Leadership & Administration:</p> <ul> <li>Provide strategic, mission-aligned leadership for Student Health Services, including long-range planning and oversight of budgeting and resource allocation. </li><li>Build strong campus and community partnerships to ensure health services supports student development, academic achievement, and student success. </li><li>Collaborate with Counseling and Psychology Services (CAPS ) to coordinate care delivery. </li><li>Represent Student Health Services on university committees and serve as a key member of the Student Health and Well-Being executive leadership team. </li></ul> <p>Organizational Management & Quality Improvement:</p> <ul> <li>Review and monitor policies, procedures and services to determine outcomes, promote continuity of care and ensure programs and services reflect a multi-disciplinary approach. </li><li>Lead multidisciplinary teams and committees; supervise senior leaders and develop staff. </li><li>Oversee and maintain a strong quality improvement program to include outcomes monitoring, accreditation standards, and site-visit readiness. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Oversight & Medical Direction:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct clinical care; supervise and mentor medical staff; ensure integration and coordination of services in a safe environment. </li><li>Oversee peer review, continuing education, credentialing, and privileging for medical staff. </li><li>Promote evidence-based practices, wellness initiatives, and prevention strategies with Healthy Carolina and Campus Recreation. </li></ul> <p>Crisis & Emergency Response:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the university's public health authority and advisor in collaboration with the Chief Health Officer and Emergency Management Team. </li><li>Advise on emergency preparedness, risk management, and response protocols. </li><li>Develop procedures for critical incidents and support faculty, staff, and students through those incidents. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of and commitment to standards associated with College Health. </li><li>Excellent knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and management of adolescent illness, diseases, and prevention strategies. </li><li>Ability to make decisions that are data-informed and reflect best practices. </li><li>Ability to budget and analyze data to ensure efficient operations. </li><li>Ability to deal tactfully, positively, and productively with patients, staff, parents, and university administrators. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to set and achieve goals. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>At least 8 years of clinical experience </li><li>Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management. </li><li>Experience as a medical director or executive leader in college health. </li><li>Board certified Primary care physician </li><li>Proven success in implementing quality initiatives and advancing organizational outcomes. </li><li>Proven record of significant leadership in college health or a similar setting. </li><li>3+ years of supervisory experience, including oversight of diverse clinical and administrative teams. </li><li>Familiarity with student insurance programs and integrated health service delivery. </li><li>Experience with accreditation processes and quality improvement. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Job Close Date</p> <p>03/07/2026</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicant</p> <p>Positions are advertised for a minimum of five (5) business days on our job website.
