<p>Description</p> <p>The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a nationally recognized and award-winning agency providing land use planning; stewardship of natural, cultural, and historic resources; and delivery of recreation programs to the communities it serves. M-NCPPC operates in the Montgomery and Prince George's County Regions. Additional information on the agency can be found onwww.mncppc.org.</p> <p>The Department of Parks & Recreation, Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division (AAFD) is currently seeking a Senior Aquatics Facility Manager for the Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex (SAARC), Brandywine, MD. Our ideal candidate will have professional aquatics certifications, facility supervision and management experience. The successful candidate must have a positive attitude, be motivated, enthusiastic, willing to learn and be able to work as a member of a team. The SAARC aquatics venue is one of the busiest venues throughout the year and offers a variety of classes, programs and rental opportunities to a multi-generational user group.</p> <p>The selected individual will handle a range of duties from budget management, purchasing, venue maintenance and inventory, patron inquiries, programming, and staff management. The individual in this role is responsible for providing daily interaction and exceptional customer care to a variety of patrons and guests. The position's work assignments often include special projects requiring comprehensive knowledge and application of the aquatics industry and American Red Cross business practices to plan and implement innovative and successful revenue generating programs critical to the continued growth of the aquatics venue.</p> <p>The M-NCPPC offers a competitive salary range with an excellent benefits package including generous leave, extensive health coverage, deferred compensation plan, employer's retirement plan, and work-life programs. The Commission is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from underrepresented groups, women, and persons with disabilities.</p> <p>The hiring range for this position will be $64,689 - midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.</p> <p>Examples of Important Duties</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the assigned facility in all aspects reflects the aquatics team's vision of safety, customer </li></ul> <p>care and integrity.</p> <ul> <li>Manage the operation, safety, maintenance, security and repair of the assigned facilities </li></ul> <p>and equipment to ensure compliance with Commission, Federal, State and Local code.</p> <ul> <li>Design and manage a variety of aquatic activities and programs for a diverse population swim </li></ul> <p>lessons, fitness, recreational, certification programs and special events- ensuring</p> <p>revenue generation and meeting community needs.</p> <ul> <li>Manage and coordinate the operating budget for assigned facility with focus on </li></ul> <p>controlling facility expenditures.</p> <ul> <li>Supervises full-time and part-time staff which entails but is not limited to recruitment, </li></ul> <p>selecting, training, and evaluating. Also, plans, schedules, and assigns work for staff.</p> <p>Counselling staff on opportunities to improve performance and initiates disciplinary</p> <p>action when vital.</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate in-service training and safety auditing program for assigned facilities. </li><li>Coordinate lifeguarding/CPR/pool operator/instructor certifications and classes. </li><li>Responds to questions or complaints from patrons and evaluates operational policies </li></ul> <p>and initiates changes for improvement.</p> <ul> <li>Oversee facility rental and all public relations and marketing for facility programs. </li><li>Communicate with various cross-functional teams within the Department and in other </li></ul> <p>divisions to properly administer various programs and procedures.</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and maintain a variety of administrative records of the facility such as revenue, </li></ul> <p>and expenses, inventory of supplies and equipment, timecards, rentals, facility</p> <p>maintenance, attendance, and staff certifications.</p> <ul> <li>Investigate and resolve complex issues and questions. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.</p> <p>Supplemental Information:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. </li><li>Considerable knowledge of pool circulation, filtration, sanitation, and chemistry; State and County's safety and health regulations for aquatic facilities; supervision; Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid; principals of management. </li><li>Ability to solve complex problems involving many variables; read and interpret technical reports; prepare correspondence, communicate effectively with the public and staff; organize work efficiently; provide courteous customer service; make sound decisions and handle several tasks simultaneously; and act swiftly and effectively in an emergency. </li><li>Holidays, nights, and weekend work is required. </li><li>On-call 24 hours a day. </li></ul> <p>Working Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Team Player </li><li>Strong communication skills </li><li>Strong management/supervisory skills </li><li>Organized and strong ability to meet deadlines </li><li>Strong attention to detail </li><li>Ability to prioritize and multi-task </li><li>Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent change </li><li>Strong Presentation Skills </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management, Facility Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field. </li><li>Two (2) years of responsible professional aquatic facility experience. </li><li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total six (6) years. </li><li>Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position. </li><li>Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require: (a) valid operating license (e.g., county pool operator) as appropriate; (b) First Aid, CPR and AED certifications; or (c) basic and/or instructor level certifications as related to assignment (e.g., Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Pool Operator). </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Operator Certification </li><li>Three or more years of aquatic facility and program management experience </li><li>Experience coordinating American Red Cross training programs </li><li>American Red Cross Instructor Certification(s) </li><li>Aquatic Fitness and Swim Lesson program coordination experience </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Class/Specification: Senior Aquatics Facility Manager</p> <p>May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.</p> <p>The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
