<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Risk Coordinator supports the organization's risk management and patient safety program through the coordination, investigation, and documentation of patient safety events, patient complaints, and risk-related activities.</p> <p>This role is responsible for managing day-to-day risk operations, including incident tracking, complaint resolution support, data collection, and compliance activities. The Risk Coordinator works closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure timely follow-up, thorough documentation, and identification of trends to support a culture of safety and continuous improvement.</p> <p>KC CARE CULTURE CODE</p> <p>KC CARE follows a culture code in all we do. As an employee of KC CARE, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Put patients first, always </li><li>Treat all people with dignity, respect, and kindness </li><li>Create safe places for others to share their voice; encourage creativity </li><li>Always strive for improvement; keep learning </li><li>Own your work, action, and mistakes - no one is perfect </li><li>Have fun - work should be fun and we want you to have fun at KC CARE </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Compiles, reviews, and tracks all incident reports, identifies potential areas of improvement and escalates findings to Risk Manager for further evaluation and action. </li><li>Maintains the risk management information system ensuring accurate, complete, and timely data entry and case documentation. </li><li>Prepares routine and ad hoc incident summary reports, including data and analysis, as directed. </li><li>Assigns, coordinates, and follows up on incident investigations and ensuring timely completion, appropriate documentation, and closure of cases. </li><li>Conducts initial fact-finding and investigation of safety events, including gathering records and interviewing involved staff, under the direction of the Risk Manager. </li><li>Serves as resource for staff regarding incident reporting process, patient safety practices, and risk-related procedures. </li><li>Coordinates the patient complaint and grievance process, including intake, investigation, documentation and preparation of written responses in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Tracks and trends patient complaints, incidents, and other risk data to identify patterns, recurring issues; reports findings to Risk Manager. </li><li>Works with Risk Manager to maintain compliance with federal state and HRSA/FTCA risk management requirements. </li><li>Assists in preparing reports, documentation, and supporting materials for audits, site visits, and regulatory reviews. </li><li>Assists in the development and distribution of education and communication materials to increase staff awareness and risk and patient safety issues. </li><li>Maintains OSHA logs of employee injuries, exposures, and needlesticks, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. </li><li>Compiles and maintains documentation required to support FTCA requirements and ongoing compliance activities. </li><li>Performs tasks and duties associated with the clinical risk management program including risk identification, documentation, tracking, and follow-up of mitigation strategies. </li><li>Supports implementation and monitoring of corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring completion and sustainability. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, risk management, or related field OR the equivalent combination of experience. </li><li>Three years' experience in healthcare with a focus on community health. </li><li>Strong organizational, investigative, and critical thinking skills </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Earned Certified Professional in Patient Safety credential (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) </li><li>Licensed as a nurse in the State of Missouri. </li><li>Experience in risk management, patient safety, and or quality improvement. </li><li>Familiarity with HRSA, FTCA, or FQHC environment. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS AND DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. As such, there is a potential exposure to virus, disease, and infection from patients while performing the duties of this job. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric traumatized and deceased patients. Travel may be expected to community meetings, client homes, or other agencies.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>While performing duties of this job, employees are regularly required to set, walk, and stand; talk and hear; both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office or clinical equipment; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.</p> <p>Mental Demands</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read, analyze, and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with others outside of their department.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
