<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Ledyard High School is seeking a Mathematics teacher beginning in the 2026 - 2027 school year. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the successful candidate will develop students' skills and competence in the field of mathematics and understanding of the application of mathematics. This is to fill an anticipated vacancy.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset </li><li>Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in mathematics </li><li>Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis </li><li>Cultivate perseverance through consistent application of problem-solving skills </li><li>Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth </li><li>Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff </li><li>Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement </li><li>Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>CT (029) Mathematics teaching certification (7-12) </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching high school students preferred </li><li>Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents </li><li>Success using a variety of teaching styles that facilitate independent and group learning activities </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work </li><li>Promotion of a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students </li><li>Enthusiasm for teaching and learning </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Salary and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times </li><li>Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
