Inspects, repairs and installs all necessary components of commercial irrigation systems including mainlines, lateral lines, manual and electric valves, rotor and spray heads, SDI, drip emitters, controllers, sensors, electrical and telephone service. </li><li>Installs and repairs cross connection devices including vacuum breakers and reduced pressure type devices. </li><li>Tests communications from field units to central control. Conducts inspections on central control units, system controllers, flow sensors, rain gauges, master valves and sensors for accurate communications. </li><li>Oversees work of seasonal personnel assigned to the area. Trains and advises employees on troubleshooting, repairs and controller programming. Completes follow-up inspections with employees to ensure properly completed work. Creates daily work schedules. </li><li>Performs regular maintenance of parks grounds. Conducts daily park inspections, removing trash, cleaning restrooms, blowing off sidewalks, inspecting playgrounds, documenting maintenance issues, inspecting park amenities, power washing, graffiti removal and sign maintenance. </li><li>Clears snow from school routes, Town-owned properties, buildings, sidewalks and trails. </li><li>Responds to maintenance requests for special events. Sets up and tears down for Town-sponsored events, pavilion reservations, athletic tournaments and department functions. </li><li>Updates older irrigation systems with more efficient products by designing, researching, purchasing and installing new irrigation products. </li><li>Provides technical support for contractors, designers and installers during construction of new parks. Performs construction inspections and documents warranty issues. </li><li>Processes irrigation locate requests by locating Town-maintained irrigation infrastructure prior to construction in right-of-ways, parks and buildings. </li><li>Orders parts and project materials. </li><li>Operates simple to complex equipment including all mowers, tractors, trucks, backhoes and hand held equipment (i.e. backpack blowers, weed eaters, trimmers). </li><li>Shares pager duty on a rotating schedule. </li><li>Responds to after-hours calls for service including clearing storm damage, turning water off, removing snow, and providing customer service and maintenance for residents and recreational users </li><li>May be assigned to assist in other technical areas. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or required. </li><li>This position is part of the Town's snow removal program. Will have scheduled on-call responsibilities through the winter months to remove snow using a 4-wheel drive pickup and/or heavy equipment. Snow removal shifts are typically 12 hours.* </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.</p> <p>Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent</p> <p>Experience: Two (2) years' experience in park maintenance with irrigation responsibility; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.</p> <p>Licenses and/or Certifications Required:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Colorado Driver's License </li><li>Maxicom Hardware Installation required or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months. </li><li>ABPA Cross Connection Certification Required or the ability to obtain within six (6) months. </li><li>Class B Commercial Driver's License preferred; Successful candidate may be required to obtain within 6 months </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of tools, methods, techniques and materials used in irrigation systems, including: basic electricity, water hydraulics, solid state controllers, computers, automatic valves, weather stations, various types of pumps and pumping stations. </li><li>Knowledge of potential problems in the areas within irrigated areas. </li><li>Proficiency in the installation and repair of cross connection devices including vacuum breakers and reduced pressure type devices. </li><li>Knowledge of the various types of manual, gas or electrically powered tools, equipment and machinery employed in maintenance, installation and/or repair of area of expertise. </li><li>Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job. </li><li>Ability to read and understand written material. </li><li>Ability to understand verbal information and instructions. </li><li>Ability to use basic mathematical skills in making basic calculations. </li><li>Knowledge of chemicals, fertilizers and other applicable media for grounds maintenance. </li><li>Ability to maintain accurate and useful records. </li><li>Ability of operate heavy and light equipment, including shop and hand tools of all varieties associated with mechanical repair and maintenance, diagnostic equipment, wench, small crane, power tools, volt/ohm meter and computer. </li><li>Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing for effective expression and clarity. </li><li>Ability to exert heavy physical effort, involving some combination of stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and lifting along with carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials. </li><li>Ability to walk and stand for periods of at least 2 hours. </li><li>Ability to use coordination and manipulative skills frequently in performing a variety of tasks with the full range of hand and power tools and shop equipment. </li><li>Some tasks require visual, sound, and depth perception and discrimination. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. </li><li>Ability to perform tasks while exposed to adverse weather conditions, dirt, fumes, dust, pollen, gases, noise extremes and toxic/poisonous agents. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Moderate to heavy physical work to including ability to lift 75lbs or less, carry 75 lbs or less, push and/or pull 50 lbs or less </li><li>Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting </li><li>Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles </li><li>Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information </li><li>Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Works both indoors and outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions </li><li>Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals </li></ul> <p>Equipment Used:</p> <ul> <li>This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment </li></ul> <p>Must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.</p> <p>The Town of Castle Rock is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p>
