<p>Title: Writing Tutor (part-time)</p> <p>Agency: Blue Ridge Community College</p> <p>Location: Augusta - 015</p> <p>FLSA: Nonexempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: $15.00 - $22.00, based on experience and qualifications</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time: Part Time</p> <p>Additional Detail</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) has been equipping students, alumni, and employees with the knowledge and experience to transform themselves, the community, and the world for over 55 years. The College's comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. Non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry are also offered. BRCC is a community dedicated to excellence, ethical behavior, and empowerment and has consistently been recognized by the Chronicle of Higher Education as a Great College to Work For</p> <p>Blue Ridge Community College is recruiting for a writing tutor. This is an approximate 20-hour per week position. This is a part-time wage position, limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period, with no benefits. There is potential eligibility for educational assistance for BRCC classes and job-related training and/or certifications.</p> <p>Job duties:</p> <ul> <li>Provide one-to-one, small group, and/or classroom tutoring services of exceptional quality on a walk-in or scheduled basis </li><li>Integrate effective study and learning strategies, added to subject-area instruction </li><li>Exhibit a positive attitude toward student efforts, and provide consistent feedback to students on progress </li><li>Maintain accurate records of individual and group tutoring sessions </li><li>Protect student confidentiality, at all times </li><li>Provide coverage to the library circulation desk as needed </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Final grade of B or higher from an accredited college or university in the class to be tutored </li><li>Ability to effectively conduct tutoring sessions, both virtually and in person </li><li>Dependability and responsiveness </li><li>Desire to help students and to maximize their potential for academic progress </li><li>Highest level of professionalism </li><li>Ability to be creative in learning methodology </li><li>Understanding and empathetic to student challenges </li></ul> <p>Additional Considerations:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Zoom or another video conferencing platform </li><li>Tutoring or teaching experience </li><li>Customer service experience </li><li>Experience in an academic environment </li><li>Familiarity with EAB Navigate </li><li>Related experience, education or training </li></ul>
