<p>Position Title: String Orchestra Teacher/Director (0.1 FTE)</p> <p>Start Date: 8/25/2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: 7/11/2025</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>Natick Public Schools is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic String Orchestra Teacher/Director to lead our 4th grade orchestra program on a part-time basis (0.1 FTE). The position involves directing a daily 45-minute rehearsal, four days per week. The ideal candidate will inspire young musicians, develop ensemble skills, and contribute to a growing and vibrant music program.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead daily 40-minute string orchestra rehearsals (four days per week).</p> </li><li> <p>Select appropriate and engaging repertoire with the director of music and the middle school string dierctor that matches students' skill levels.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare students for 2 performances throughout the school year.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide instruction on technique, ensemble playing, and musical expression.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with school music staff, especially string staff and the Director of Music to align curriculum, measure excellence, and spiral curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with families regarding student progress and concert schedules.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Performance, or related field; Master's preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Music (PreK-12) or eligibility to obtain one.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in violin, viola, cello, and ensemble direction.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching and inspiring student musicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication and organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong interpersonal skills</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience with diverse repertoire and culturally responsive teaching.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to school culture.</p> </li><li> <p>Background in arranging or adapting music for student ensembles.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>This 0.1 FTE position consists of one 40-minute rehearsal four mornings, Monday through Friday, one at each of Natick's four elementary schools.</p> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>Salary is commensurate with experience and in accordance with the district's part-time educator scale.</p>
