<p>Overview</p> <p>The Middlesex County Surrogate's Court is seeking a highly motivated Seasonal Probate Clerk who has a strong desire to work in a legal environment and is eager to learn about probate procedures. This seasonal role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, public-facing legal office. Seasonal candidates may be considered for a full-time position.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the intake, examination, and processing of wills, affidavits, guardianships, and other probate-related matters. </li><li>Prepare necessary legal documents for admitting wills to probate, granting letters of administration, testamentary guardianship, or trusteeship. </li><li>Take affidavits in lieu of administration and guardianship, draw complaints for guardianship petitions, and assist in qualifying fiduciaries. </li><li>Review documentation for completeness and compliance with New Jersey probate laws and court rules. </li><li>Respond to inquiries from attorneys, court staff, and the public regarding Surrogate Court procedures. </li><li>Maintain accurate files, reports, and dockets for all probate matters. </li><li>Support residents at various satellite locations throughout Middlesex County as needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>One (1) year of experience preparing or processing legal documents related to probate procedures, OR successful completion of an approved paralegal training program. </li></ul> <p>Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of probate practices and terminology (preferred) </li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines </li><li>Excellent customer service and attention to detail </li><li>Willingness to learn and grow within a legal/public service environment </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and independently </li></ul> <p>License:</p> <ul> <li>Valid NJ driver's license may be required for travel to satellite offices. </li></ul> <p>Important Notes:</p> <ul> <li>This is a seasonal position with the potential for full-time placement based on performance and organizational needs. </li><li>This job requires occasional travel within Middlesex County. </li><li>Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English </li></ul> <p>The anticipated starting base pay for this position is:</p> <ul> <li>$16-$18 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. </li></ul> <p>Benefits: You can build your own future while helping to build the future of your community.
