The faculty members that Delta seeks to hire live a daily work-commitment to the democratic ideal espoused in Delta's mission.</p> <p>The Surgical Technology Discipline at Delta College is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member committed to equity, retention, and completion for student success. The instructor will be responsible for effective teaching in the face-to-face, blended, and online classroom. Potential candidates will have the ability to teach online as well as face-to-face and blended/hybrid courses during the evening, at multiple locations (Downtown Centers), and nontraditional times as needed. In addition, we seek candidates whose pedagogy, research, and continuous professional development have prepared them to engage with the college's commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI).</p> <p>POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in students, faculty, and staff </li><li>Surgical Technology, Surgical First Assisting and Sterile Processing program instructor Instructor will be responsible for teaching in-person section(s) at main campus, Saginaw campus and/or virtually </li><li>Calibrate and contribute to the advancement of Surgical Technology, Sterile processing and Surgical first assisting </li><li>Understanding of and ability to work with a diverse student population </li><li>Use of email, internet-based resources, and common Office software </li><li>Ability to teach in a variety of formats, including incorporating online learning systems </li><li>Understanding of ADA requirements and willingness to create accessible materials </li><li>Effective interpersonal skills </li><li>Understanding Delta Mission/Vision/Values </li><li>Demonstrate a philosophy of teaching that provides learning opportunities that meet the needs of all students. </li><li>Establish and promote an engaging and inclusive learning environment to maximize student learning in both the face-to-face and online classroom. </li><li>Focus on supporting and assessing student learning and academic achievement to promote student success. </li><li>Must actively support student retention initiatives that promote program completion. </li><li>Develop innovative, dynamic, and engaging learning environments that support student learning and success. </li><li>Collaborate voluntarily and enthusiastically with colleagues in the academic discipline and with other faculty colleagues to develop effective learning experiences for a diverse student body. </li><li>Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity based on the college statement on diversity. </li><li>Serve the community through outreach activities. </li><li>Commit to ongoing educational and professional growth. </li><li>Engage fully in course, discipline, program development, curriculum development and assessment. </li><li>Attend and actively participate in discipline, division, and college meetings. </li><li>Capable of using a learning management system to deliver course material. </li><li>Demonstrate teaching effectiveness which supports student learning and encompasses pedagogies for student success to meet course and/or program requirements. </li><li>Work in a variety of settings which promote quality learning. </li><li>Maintain professional development to assure currency within field of practice. </li><li>Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in Surgical Technology </li><li>Health-related Bachelor degree </li><li>Graduate of an education program in surgical technology that is also accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency. </li><li>Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the NBSAST </li><li>Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification from the NBSTSA </li><li>BLS certification (current or upon hire) </li><li>Minimum total of three years of experience in the operating room scrub role and/or assisting role within the past five years </li></ul> <p>Additional Experiences Considered</p> <ul> <li>Masters degree preferred </li><li>Teaching experience in the related field preferred </li><li>An ability to teach in a variety of formats including online. </li><li>Pedagogy is informed by belonging, equity, diversity and inclusion. </li><li>Bilingual </li></ul> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>The College reserves the right to close the recruitment process once a sufficient applicant pool has been identified.</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Complete an on-line application and attach a cover letter with position title, resume and copies of transcripts (official transcripts required upon hire) and/or certifications and licenses.</p>
