This position description does not represent in any way a contract of employment. </li></ul> <p>Principal Accountabilities</p> <p>Carry out the six Critical Performance areas of a tenure track appointment:</p> <ul> <li>Scholarship and Professional Growth: Maintain and seek to improve currency and competence in the discipline as a teacher </li><li>Teaching and Learning Facilitation: Participate in the continuing development and implementation of the department's curriculum through teaching that reflects a strong commitment to fostering student success </li><li>Assessment and Evaluation: Implement evaluations according to established standards and use assessment data to continuously improve teaching and learning </li><li>Student Development: Through in-class and out-of-class initiatives, actively seek to advance the development of individual students and their capacity to meet their educational goals </li><li>Curriculum Design: In collaboration with colleagues, actively contribute to the continuous review and revision of the department's curriculum </li><li>Workplace and Community Service: Contribute to the operation and advancement of the college through committee service and other activities </li></ul> <p>Design Tenure Track Faculty Accountabilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach primarily digital media design courses for web design pathway (foundation and second year courses) as needed </li><li>Develop and revise the Digital Media Design curriculum ensuring continuous alignment with program outcomes and design practices </li><li>Curriculum responsibilities will include traditional, online and blended courses </li><li>Develop and deliver instruction in a design lab/studio-influenced classroom environment that emphasizes an experiential learning model focused on student involvement and success </li><li>Required to teach day/evening, face-to-face classes at the downtown Dayton campus in addition to web-based instruction </li><li>Involvement in both the internal college community as well as outside organizations in the Miami Valley region </li><li>Teach 30 credit hours per academic year (fall and spring semesters) </li><li>Maintain office hours as required by Sinclair policy </li><li>Attend department and division meetings </li><li>Participate in orientation and in-service activities </li><li>Participate in the college's evaluation processes </li><li>Participate in all sessions of the New Faculty Orientation program </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field; master's degree preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Master's degree will be required for tenure</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience in web design</p> </li><li> <p>Portfolio of your professional work, and a teaching portfolio submission required</p> </li><li> <p>Previous teaching, training, and/or project management experience in web design, or related subjects at the high school or college level</p> </li><li> <p>Strong visual acuity and the ability to clearly articulate both positive and negative aspects of creative work</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to facilitate supportive and helpful individual and group critique sessions that are beneficial to the growth of the students and the improvement of their work</p> </li><li> <p>Specialized training or certifications (or equivalate industry experience) in web design, web content management system software, web-based design tools</p> </li><li> <p>Technical skills include (1) Proficiency with design software: Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), and WordPress; (2) Understanding of UI/UX principles and user-centered design; (3) Knowledge of design fundamentals: typography, color theory, layout, grids, visual hierarchy; (4) Familiarity with responsive design principles;
