<p>POSITION: MCJROTC Instructor or Senior Instructor - SHHS</p> <p>PURPOSE:</p> <p>To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will develop intellectual leadership and physical skills consistent with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the district and the Marine Corps Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:</p> <ul> <li>Meet and exceed MCJROTC and Worcester County Public Schools' program requirements and expectations. </li><li>Teaching the prescribed four-year curriculum. </li><li>Instructing in military drills. </li><li>Counseling students in the MCJROTC Program </li><li>Writing/updating lessons plans for the MCJROTC curriculum and other lesson preparation requirements. </li><li>Mentoring cadets and assisting with higher education or employment opportunities and goals. </li><li>Planning and conducting year round extracurricular activities for the MCJROTC units (including color and honor guard ceremonies, drill team and rifle teams competitive meets, field trips, basic leadership training, etc.). </li><li>Preparing periodic reports on program administration and logistics. </li><li>Making annual presentations at incoming schools for the purpose of recruiting new cadets into the program. </li><li>Establishing contact with civic groups to obtain their recognition and support of the MCJROTC program. </li><li>Keeping current on new developments and organizations within the appropriate branch of service. </li><li>Assessing unit progress to assure that the MCJROTC program objectives are met. </li><li>Attending military sponsored training to keep abreast of current requirements of program management. </li><li>Taking courses of instruction to improve teaching abilities. </li><li>Establishing rapport with school counselors and faculty members. </li><li>Maintaining financial accounts of operating budget. </li><li>Teach allied/ancillary courses as needed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Instructor -Enlisted rank E-6 to E-9 with an Associate's degree from accredited college or university. </li><li>Senior Instructor - Warrant or Commissioned officer with a Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university </li><li>Verification of retirement from the Marine Corps. </li><li>Possess or are eligible for certification as a JROTC Instructor from the sponsoring service. </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:</p> <p>Salary is based on the minimum salary established by the sponsoring service plus local increments.</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE:</p> <ul> <li>Each candidate meeting the employment qualifications for the JROTC Instructor position must submit an online application available on our website at worcesterk12.org. </li><li>Please upload a letter of interest that addresses the essential functions of the position along with a résumé. </li><li>Applications received by the vacancy announcement deadline will be prescreened. </li><li>The selected applicants will be invited for an interview. </li></ul> <p>If you have any questions or require assistance in completing the online application, please contact Debbie Powell at 410-632-5120 or email us at wcpshr@worcesterk12.org.</p> <p>If accommodations are needed for the interview, they will be provided with an advance request.</p> <p>This position will remain open until filled.</p> <p>The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any or all applicants, re-advertise and / or withdraw the position.</p> <p>The Worcester County Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
