<p>Description</p> <p>Title: Instructor, CC (Culinary Arts)</p> <p>Position Number: 0083465</p> <p>Hiring Unit: Academic Affairs - Business and Hospitality</p> <p>Location: Kahului, Maui</p> <p>Date Posted: December 11, 2025</p> <p>Closing Date: December 26, 2025</p> <p>Salary Information:C2, minimum $5,335/month</p> <p>Monthly Type: 9 month</p> <p>Tenure / Non-Tenure Track: Tenure Track</p> <p>Full Time/Part-Time: Full Time</p> <p>Permanent / Temporary: Permanent</p> <p>Other Conditions:</p> <p>Evening, weekend, and or distance offerings for UH Maui College and or Outreach sites (Hana, Lanai, Molokai) may be assigned as part of the regular workload.</p> <p>Positions may be converted from 9-month to 11-month, based on program/operational needs.</p> <p>This is NOT a remote position - the job requires in-person work.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the BUS/HOSP Department Chair, teach culinary-related credit courses and assist in the development and management of the Culinary Arts Program.</p> <p>Perform related work activities, including, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Advising and counseling students </li><li>Assisting in campus-related activities </li><li>Participating in faculty/administrative committees, community service, and in-service training </li><li>Maintaining an approved program of professional development and self-improvement activities </li><li>Collecting data and preparing reports (such as Annual and Comprehensive Program Reviews) </li><li>Preparing/adapting/revising Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment strategies for all courses </li><li>Independently planning, organizing, and carrying out instructional and non-instructional assignments </li><li>Other Duties as Assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Food Services AND three (3) years related work experience may include professional training</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Associate's Degree in Food Services ANDfive (5) years related work experience may include professional training</p> <p>OR</p> <p>15 college credits in Food Services AND seven (7) years related work experience may include professional training</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Master's recognition by the Food Service Community, AND 10 years of related work experience may include professional training</p> <p>Desirable Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Successful teaching experience in a community college culinary program or equivalent, as substantiated by student, peer, and administrative assessments. </li><li>Work experience as a corporate chef, chef proprietor, or sous chef in a hotel, free-standing restaurant, or institutional food service establishment with experience in supervising multiple operations and in supervising and training subordinate employees. </li><li>Expertise or experience as an institutional purchaser/buyer in a restaurant or food service operation. </li><li>Current sanitation certificate. </li><li>Food and beverage procurement, costing, preparation, service, and safety/sanitation skills. </li><li>Knowledge of operating and service procedures in quick service, limited service, and full-service dining establishments. </li><li>Working knowledge of various traditional and contemporary food preparation styles. </li><li>Understanding of classic and contemporary food terminology. </li><li>Involvement as a judge, mentor, or coach in local or international culinary arts competitions. </li><li>Active involvement in related professional associations. </li><li>American Culinary Federation certification at or above the Certified Working Chef level, documented ability to work with a variety of cultures and audiences. </li><li>Experience in computer applications in the hospitality industry. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of the Native Hawaiian language, history, politics, culture, practices, and contemporary issues. </li></ul> <p>Inquiries:</p> <p>Name:UH Maui College, Human Resources</p> <p>Phone:808-984-3381</p> <p>Email:mauihr@hawaii.edu</p> <p>INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILLNOTBE CONSIDERED</p> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Click on the "Apply" button in the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach the required documents.
