<p>Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor (VRS) Position Overview</p> <p>Provides direct supervision to vocational rehabilitation staff; onboards and trains new staff; monitors and evaluates employee performance; oversees implementation of policies and procedures; reviews and guides vocational rehabilitation casework; develops partnerships with community stakeholders; coordinates outreach efforts to promote OOD services.</p> <p>Daytime travel within Ohio may be required. The selected candidate must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver's license.</p> <p>Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor Duties</p> <ul> <li>Evaluates employee performance through the review of completed work assignments. </li><li>Identifies staff development and training needs, and ensures staff training is completed. </li><li>Reviews and prepares reports, and composes correspondence related to the work. </li><li>Reviews the quality of services being provided by vocational rehabilitation staff. </li><li>Supervises casework in accordance with the policies and procedures of the agency. </li><li>Serves as liaison with various community rehabilitation program providers. </li></ul> <p>A Successful Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor</p> <ul> <li>Is highly organized, self-motivated & team-oriented. </li><li>Has efficient time-management skills. </li><li>Is able to think critically and make decisions independently. </li><li>Has strong internal & external customer service skills. </li></ul> <p>Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Division Overview</p> <p>The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation provides vocational rehabilitation (VR) services to eligible individuals with disabilities to assist them to attain and maintain competitive integrated employment. OOD works with adults seeking to enter the workforce or retain a job, and with youth beginning at age 14 to assist them as they transition from high school into college and/or the workplace. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.</p> <p>All final applicants tentatively selected for this position may be required to complete and pass a urinalysis to test for restricted substances as a condition of employment. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana. An applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.</p> <ul> <li>3 years experience as vocational rehabilitation counselor or vocational rehabilitation program specialist with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities. </li><li>OR completion of undergraduate core program in human services area AND 5 years experience in private/governmental agency in position providing direct counseling services. </li><li>OR completion of graduate core program in human services area AND 4 years experience in private/governmental agency in a position providing direct counseling services. </li><li>OR equivalent of education and/or experience per Minimum Class Qualifications noted above. </li></ul> <p>Job Skills: Vocational Rehabilitation, Collaboration, Conflict Management, Customer Focus, Emotional Intelligence, Flexibility, Change Management, Computer Literacy, Customer Service, Program Management</p>
