<p>2026 GPCC | Housing Action Corps | Development & Strategy</p> <p>The Development and Strategic Planning Associate will serve with Garfield Park Community Council in Chicago, IL from September 2026-2027. Garfield Park Community Council (GPCC) is part of Housing Action Corps, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. Housing Action Corps members receive custom training, support, and networking opportunities in housing and community development, in addition to the traditional benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA. GPCC is a community-building organization made up of dedicated residents and allies working together to develop leaders and create opportunities and programs that build a vital Garfield Park community. The project will serve the community areas of East and West Garfield Park, two of the most economically and socially distressed communities in Chicago. The Development and Strategic Planning Associate will collaborate across GPCC departments to identify strategies and resources that build our capacity to achieve the fundraising and programmatic goals in our strategic plan. Our ideal candidate is excited to work behind-the-scenes to ensure GPCC has adequate financial and organizational resources to serve our community. Experience with fundraising, communications, business development, and community engagement are all preferred, but not required. The Associate will be expected to synthesize information from all of GPCC's programmatic areas, including Community Wellness, Affordable and Sustainable Housing, and Economic Development, to analyze our success in addressing community needs and create plans to achieve short- and long-term goals. This position offers a $400 monthly supplemental benefit. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.</p> <p>Member Duties : GPCC completed a strategic planning process in 2024 that outlines how GPCC can serve its community both in the short- and long-term. The Development and Strategic Planning Associate will work with the Executive Director, Development Manager, and other staff to ensure we have the capacity to achieve the goals outlined in the strategic plan. They will also ensure that GPCC is effectively utilizing public and private funding sources for programs that reduce poverty. The Associate will accomplish a range of activities to help GPCC meet our strategic plan goals, including creating communications materials, coordinating grant applications, researching grant and partnership opportunities, and preparing reports on program outcomes.
