<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>Under general direction of the California High-Speed Rail Authority's (Authority) Chief of External Affairs, the Staff Services Manager I, (Specialist) (SSM I) performs a variety of complex, confidential and sensitive, analytical, and administrative tasks requiring a high degree of independent action, initiative, and discretion. The SSM I independently researches, evaluates, coordinates, and performs a broad range of complex analytical and administrative duties for the Chief of External Affairs. The SSM I serves as a subject matter expert in the implementation of departmental policies and procedures pertaining to all Authority offices in areas such as personnel, budgets, procurement, contracts, travel, accounting, and resource management. The SSM I advises and collaborates cooperatively with Authority offices on difficult and complex administrative issues in a manner consistent with governing laws, rules, regulations, and policies.</p> <p>You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>This position works primarily in the office, but limited telework may be available for California residents based on the requirements of the position. Hiring interviews may be available virtually, using teleconferencing or video conferencing options.</p> <p>While working on-site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled area which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. The incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and keyboard, and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen. The incumbent must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities, and complete tasks or projects with short notice.
