<p>Purpose:</p> <p>The Community Health Program Intern will gain hands-on experience working within a multidisciplinary team that provides in person or phone-based support and services to pregnant individuals, children/youth, and families.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides administrative support by entering data in program databases, preparing/organizing educational materials, and updating resources. </li><li>Supports outreach efforts by helping communicate with families, partners, and community organizations in-person, by phone, email, or through preparation of written materials. </li><li>Collaborates with program leaders to identify possible process improvement strategies, i.e., workflows, communication processes, and documentation practices. </li><li>Supports quality and performance improvement initiatives across programs, which may include data collection, review, and analysis; Helps check data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. </li><li>Assists with preparation of data summaries, reports, and dashboards. </li><li>Attends meetings, participates in discussions, and shadows staff to learn about program services, roles, and care delivery. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Actively working towards one of the following:</p> </li><li> <p>A bachelor's degree in education, health education, social work, counseling, nursing, sociology, family and consumer sciences, health and human development, individual and family studies, early childhood, psychology, or another closely related health or human services field</p> </li><li> <p>An associate's degree program in early childhood, family/human services, or a closely related field with an interest in gaining experience working with children and families</p> </li><li> <p>Master's degree</p> </li><li> <p>Friendly, effective communicator</p> </li><li> <p>Comfortable with topics related to maternal health, child health, mental health, public health</p> </li><li> <p>Self-starter and a positive team player</p> </li><li> <p>Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based software</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written English</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently</p> </li><li> <p>Time management skills with the ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work</p> </li><li> <p>Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult abuse training certification (within 30 days of hire)</p> </li><li> <p>Must have valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation if driving is required</p> </li><li> <p>Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2-step TB test and background check</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Physical requirements: Light work, sitting most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a small amount of force constantly to move objects. </li><li>Physical activities: Kneeling, Reaching, Pushing, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive motions, Standing, Stooping, Walking, Lifting, Fingering (picking, pinching, typing, etc.), Grasping (applying pressure with fingers and palm), Visual acuity (field of vision for analyzing data, viewing computer, using measurement devices, operating machines, determining accuracy or neatness, and/or making general observations) </li><li>Environment: Extreme temperatures, Hazards (chemicals, infectious diseases), Atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases) </li><li>Time: Ability to be flexible with a varying schedule and programmatic requirements </li><li>Travel: Required between locations </li></ul> <p>These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
