<p>Classification</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Minimum Pay</p> <p>$24.46</p> <p>Compensation will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY</p> <p>The General Maintenance Worker position is responsible for all interior and exterior maintenance of campus buildings as well as for responding to and performing necessary heating/cooling checks to provide a comfortable environment for the college community.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Assumes leadership role in the absence of Building and Grounds Manager. </li><li>Repairs and maintains the interior and exterior of buildings. </li><li>Inspects all vital building equipment, heating, cooling and plumbing systems. </li><li>Assists in the inspection of burglar and fire alarm equipment. </li><li>Removes snow from walk, lots and streets and applies ice melt and sand/salt where needed. </li><li>Performs ground maintenance of property as assigned. </li><li>Cleans up workshops, trucks and job sites. </li><li>Performs building use setups to include tables, chairs, and other furniture as needed. </li><li>Moves college property from one building and/or campus to the other. </li><li>Coordinates contract services as necessary. </li><li>This position is designated essential and may be called in for emergency situations, to include, but not limited to snow removal, structural failures, and natural disasters. </li><li>Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of HVAC system. </li><li>Knowledge of carpenter techniques related to general building maintenance. </li><li>Skill in using carpentry hand and power tools. </li><li>Ability to use a personal computer. </li><li>Ability to communicate verbally, written form, voice, e-mail, etc. </li><li>Ability to learn basic energy management functions. </li><li>Ability to drive. </li><li>Ability to operate light construction equipment. </li><li>Ability to work in extreme temperatures and harsh conditions. </li><li>Ability to be on-call. </li><li>Ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs. </li><li>Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, reach and walk to complete assigned tasks. </li><li>Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Three years' carpentry experience and/or related building maintenance work. </li><li>Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered. </li><li>This position is categorized as "designated", as it pertains to temporary College closures or adverse conditions. </li><li>Valid driver's license and insurability by College carrier to drive college vehicles. </li><li>Must pass background check. </li></ul> <p>The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
