<p>Closing Date: May 22, 2026 or upon the receipt of the first 50 application submissions</p> <p>Deputy Director Office of Emergency Management Annual Salary: $119,225.60 - $178,796.80</p> <p>Initial pay will be aligned with the lower to mid quadrants of the role's designated pay scale.</p> <p>Job Summary: The OEM Deputy Director will directly manage the day-to-day operations of the four OEM Divisions: EM, EMS, 911 and Radio. The Deputy will provide day-to-day approvals on division requests, tracking details to ensure each Division Director is on track with their quarterly goals. The Deputy will advise the Director on strategic initiatives, to include changes in direction or budget impacts that affect the Department and tax levy.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <p>Manage the four OEM Division Directors ensuring they are on track daily to meet their quarterly goals. Performance and adherence to core values will also be measured and meritorious recognition and corrective action implemented. Meets with the OEM Executive Director regularly to advise on the detailed operations of the Department as well as the performance of each Division head to include metrics. Advise the Director on the strategic direction of OEM to include innovative ideas regarding tech, or ordinance changes, or revenue opportunities. Implement measures for assessing adherence and examples of OEM's core values to include using the Just Culture concept. Morale events and opportunities for employee engagement will be implemented. Assist the 911 Division Director, Radio Divisions Director, the EM Division Director, and the EMS Division Director in building relationships within our metropolitan area which benefit our residents, specifically implementing policies and procedures to address racial equity within our communities. Seek opportunities to engage employees in all matters regarding emergency services and willingly accept challenges assigned that may be extraordinary or unique. Perform all other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Authorized to work in the United States Willing and able to establish residency in the State of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during employment Valid driver's license and updated to a WI license within six months of start date</p> <p>A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required At least three (3) years of experience : Managing complex, multi-division operations or leading large-scale incidents At least three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in emergency management, public safety or related field Proficient in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat software</p> <p>Additional Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must have the ability to liaise with individuals from both public and private organizations; the ability to remain neutral and trustworthy with the highest integrity is essential. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships and communicate effectively and build rapport with department management, supervisors, other employees, professional peers and the public. The ability to use good judgment and work effectively under stressful conditions.</p> <p>NOTE: This position is unclassified and not subject to Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
