<p>The NIU Clinic is a fee-for-service, interdisciplinary clinic providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment services to the community in Audiology, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology. Serving individuals across the lifespan, the clinic offers evidence-based care while supporting NIU's mission of education, research, and community engagement. The clinic is dedicated to creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for doctoral and graduate students, preparing them to successfully transition into externships and professional practice through high-quality clinical supervision and mentorship.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Part-Time Clinical Faculty in Speech-Language Pathology provides clinical supervision and instruction to graduate student clinicians in support of accredited training requirements. This role ensures high-quality clinical education, supports community service delivery, and contributes to student success and program sustainability.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Clinical Supervision</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct clinical supervision and instruction to graduate students in speech language pathology. </li><li>Guide students in managing client cases, including assessment, intervention, planning, and documentation. </li><li>Provide constructive feedback on clinical performance and evaluate student's progress regularly. </li><li>Ensure all clinical activities comply with ASHA guidelines, state licensure requirements, and institutional policies </li><li>Ensure proper documentation of student hours, competencies, and client outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development</p> <ul> <li>Stay current with advancements in the field by attending workshops, conferences, or webinars. </li><li>Foster relationships with local clinics, hospitals, or schools to expand clinical opportunities for students. </li></ul> <p>Mentorship and Advising</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a mentor to students, guiding their professional and academic development. </li><li>Advise students on clinical practicum experiences and career pathways. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)</p> <ul> <li>Current license as a Speech-Language Pathologist as required by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (IDFPR). </li><li>Two (2) years (24 months) of experience as a licensed Speech Pathologist. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) (Civil Service)</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of speech and hearing science and neurogenic and psychological correlates that underly speech, language, and voice problems. </li><li>Knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques appropriate to the patient's problem. </li><li>Skill using technical equipment, sound level meters, other speech and hearing testing, and therapeutic devices. </li><li>Ability to establish rapport with patients and families and to instill interest and enthusiasm toward therapy. </li><li>Ability to prepare concise and complete case records and reports. </li><li>Ability to establish work priorities; assess workflow; assign, review, and evaluate the work of others. </li></ul> <p>Specialty Factors (Civil Service)</p> <p>None</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications (Civil Service)</p> <ul> <li>Current CCC-SLP </li></ul> <p>Minimum Required Qualifications (SPS)</p> <p>n/a</p> <p>Additional Requirements (SPS)</p> <p>n/a</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications (SPS)</p> <p>n/a</p> <p>Physical demands/requirements</p> <ul> <li>General office requirements. </li></ul>
