<p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Full time</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Day Shift</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <p>At Saint Mary's Hospital, the Nurse Manager of the Inpatient Surgical/General Surgery unit is responsible for staffing coordination, competency assessment of staff, regulatory oversight, fiscal operations, and the annual performance appraisal process.</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assists the Director with Performance Improvement activities, unit and patient satisfaction issues, and policy development.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures high-quality standards of care and a safe environment in compliance with infection control standards, specialty organizations, DPH, and The Joint Commission standards and recommendations, and assures consistent implementation by all staff.</p> </li><li> <p>A track record of effectively partnering and communicating with physicians to achieve objectives and results. Must demonstrate the ability to affect positive medical staff relations while working with highly qualified physicians.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education: A Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing is required. A Master of Science in Nursing MSN is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Registered Nurse RN Licensure: Valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive nursing management experience in Inpatient General Surgery or Medical-Surgical practice is required. Additionally, 5 or more years of combined experience in Inpatient General Surgery or Medical-Surgical Nursing, including both clinical and management roles, is strongly preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Highlights and Benefits:</p> <p>Full-Time - 40 hours/week.</p> <p>Ministry/Facility Information</p> <p>Saint Mary's Hospital, operating since 1909, is a Catholic, not-for-profit, community teaching hospital dedicated to serving patients in Waterbury, CT, and the surrounding communities.
