<p>LIFEGUARD</p> <p>The Lifeguard position is a part-time support staff position reporting to the Director of Aquatics. The purpose of the Lifeguard is to ensure the safety of the patrons using the pool; provide excellent customer service for pool members and guests; be friendly, professional, and proactive. Lifeguards must know all pool rules, guidelines & policies and enforce them strictly and equally for all patrons.</p> <p>POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Ensure that the facility is ready for patrons by unlocking doors, adjusting roof & patio doors according to weather and following opening and closing protocols.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for counting and recording money stored in locked safe. </li><li>Maintain pool by vacuuming pool and cleaning bags. </li><li>Verify membership and ensure that guests without membership sign a waiver. </li><li>Greet every person who enters the aquatics center. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be Red Cross Lifeguard Certified. </li><li>Must be CPR/AED certified. </li><li>Must be at least 17 years old. </li><li>Must be able to perform the following: swim 300 yards continuously using the breast stroke or front crawl; tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds, starting in the water & swimming 20 yards; surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point; exit the water without using a ladder or steps. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Red Cross Lifeguard Certified is required; CPR/AED; Six months' experience is preferred.</p> <p>SKILLS:</p> <p>Leadership Skills, good communication and people skills, ability to problem solve, endurance, ability to save a person's life with rescue equipment and without rescue equipment.</p> <p>Hendrix College strives to maintain an environment free from discrimination and harassment, where employees treat each other with respect, dignity and courtesy.
