Rooted in our values of Trust, Respect, Integrity, and Compassion, we provide safe, innovative, and patient-centered care across every interaction.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>As a Trauma Registry Specialist, you will play a vital role in the hospital's trauma services by ensuring the accurate and timely collection, entry, and maintenance of trauma patient data. You will support trauma program operations by contributing to performance improvement initiatives, quality reporting, and regulatory compliance that directly impact trauma patient outcomes and trauma center accreditation.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Trauma Registry Management</p> <ul> <li> <p>Collects, abstracts, and enters patient-level trauma data in compliance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Applies AIS and ICD-10 injury scoring and coding systems to ensure clinical accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews electronic medical records, pre-hospital reports, and referral documentation to gather complete data sets.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with trauma program staff to maintain data integrity, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate case inclusion/exclusion.</p> </li></ul> <p>Reporting & Quality Assurance</p> <ul> <li> <p>Generates reports and dashboards for internal quality reviews, Trauma Committee meetings, and morbidity & mortality conferences.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports trauma quality improvement initiatives by identifying trends and helping develop action plans based on registry data.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with trauma performance reporting, including scorecards for trauma surgeons and department leadership.</p> </li></ul> <p>Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintains registry readiness for ACS Level III Trauma Center verification and Indiana State Trauma Registry data submission.</p> </li><li> <p>Keeps current with updates to trauma registry software and data dictionaries; troubleshoots technical issues with IT as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Protects patient privacy and ensures secure management of confidential information.</p> </li></ul> <p>Administrative & Operational Support</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinates trauma-related data requests and tracks responses using a formal request log.</p> </li><li> <p>Enters and maintains trauma staffing data for administrative reports using the Active Staffer system.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports nursing and leadership teams by preparing daily staffing sheets, processing state health reports, and maintaining tracking systems for leaves of absence, 1:1 care, and shift coverage.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education & Certifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Associate's degree required; medical records, health information management, or related field preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Certification in Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) or Certified AIS Specialist (CAISS) preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of NTRACS or equivalent trauma registry software training within 6 months of hire.</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical records or health information setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Prior trauma registry experience strongly preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skills & Competencies:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, ICD-10 codes, and data abstraction.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in Microsoft Office and trauma registry software platforms.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Highly organized with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data security.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why Join Beacon Health System?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Be part of a mission-driven, patient-focused organization recognized for clinical excellence and innovation.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with high-performing trauma and quality teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Grow your career in a role that supports life-saving trauma care and contributes directly to patient outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Enjoy competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing learning opportunities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Beacon Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
