<p>Position Information</p> <p>Classification Title Open Rank FLSA Faculty Rank Open Rank Contract Type Fiscal (12 mo.) Tenure Status Non-Tenure Track, Tenure Track, or Tenured Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>DVM degree or equivalent.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Athens Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (AVDL), College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia, Athens, GA invites applications for a full-time Veterinary Clinical Pathologist with a keen interest in and enthusiasm for diagnostic pathology and training. This is a twelve-month faculty position and can be either clinical (non-tenure) or tenure track with appointment at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor in a fully accredited diagnostic laboratory and NAHLN member.</p> <p>The position will have a heavy emphasis on providing diagnostic cytology services to veterinarians submitting diagnostic specimens to the AVDL, training pathology residents, and instructing rotating senior veterinary students. Additional diagnostic service opportunities in the AVDL, teaching hospital, and flow cytometry services also are available, as well as additional teaching opportunities in the undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. There is an expectation to pursue scholarly activity with case material and develop a specific area of interest/expertise. While conducting research is not a requirement of the position, collaborative research opportunities abound and are encouraged.</p> <p>Rank, salary, and terms of appointment will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the applicant.</p> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <p>Candidates must have pathology board certification or be eligible to take the specialty board exam in veterinary clinical pathology, and be eligible to obtain a special faculty veterinary license to practice in Georgia.</p> <p>For information about the requirements for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, please see the University of Georgia's Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure at Promotion & Tenure - UGA Provost's Office.</p> <p>Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification</p> <p>Preference will be given to those board-certified (ACVP, ECVP, or equivalent) individuals with an advanced degree in pathology (or similar field) with at least 1 to 2 years' experience in diagnostic pathology.</p> <p>Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies</p> <p>Preferred candidates will have a commitment to diagnostic services, training pathology residents, and teaching excellence.</p> <p>Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills are required.</p> <p>Physical Demands Is this a Position of Trust?
