<p>Posting Number Stu457P Working Title Summer Student Swim Instructor/Certification Class Instructor FLSA Non-Exempt Student Pay Level Flex Advertised Pay Rate Position Status Regular Student Employment Department Student Emp Wellness Center Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>As Lifeguard:</p> <ul> <li>Protect the safety and well being of each patron using the SUWC aquatic facility. The lifeguard will provide friendly, professional, and safe assistance to all aquatic users. </li><li>Supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations. </li><li>Warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards. </li><li>Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid. </li><li>Notify the Aquatic Coordinator of any accidents, rescues, or other pertinent information. </li><li>Successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics. </li><li>Attend scheduled in-service training. </li><li>Maintain attendance and activity record and complete required reports. </li><li>Assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas and facilities. </li></ul> <p>As Swim Instructor/Certification Class Instructor:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching group and private swimming lessons. Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching certification courses. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>As Lifeguard:</p> <ul> <li>Current accredited professional rescuer CPR and First aid/Lifeguard certification </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li></ul> <p>As Swim Instructor/Certification Class Instructor:</p> <ul> <li>American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor </li><li>Instructor level certification for course material </li><li>Prior experience as a swim instructor/course instructor in a similar work setting </li></ul> <p>Skills in:</p> <ul> <li>Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, </li><li>Strong communication and leadership </li><li>In good academic standing </li><li>An understanding of facility rules, policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Be customer service friendly </li><li>Independently resolve problems with customers </li><li>Maintain good academic standing </li><li>Good decision making skills </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Certified Water Safety Instructor </li><li>Certified Pool Operator </li><li>Experience in a similar aquatic setting </li><li>Must be enrolled/registered for either Summer 2026 OR Fall 2026 </li></ul> <p>Posting Date 03/27/2026 Close Date Special Instructions Summary</p>
