<p>POSITION TITLE: K-5 General Music Teacher</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of</p> <p>Education</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal, Assistant Principals and Fine Arts Coordinator</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs</p> <p>School Board policies.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Responsible for teaching music education to students in grades K-5, and assists the staff of the school in the improvement and appreciation of music instruction. Helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences including singing, moving to music, playing of instruments and listening.</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each student. </li><li>Encourage students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible. </li><li>Utilize a repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students. </li><li>Work collaboratively with content team (Professional Learning Community) and interdisciplinary team. </li><li>Implement a variety of effective, research-based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards. </li><li>Design instructional plans with attention to individual student abilities and interests. </li><li>Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested. </li><li>Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners, re-teaching when needed and extending learning for others. </li><li>Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between students and teachers, as well as student-to-student, while using effective procedures to support all learners. </li><li>Effectively implement district initiatives. </li><li>Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures and resources. </li><li>Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and professional behavior expectations. </li></ul> <p>OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. </li><li>Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors. </li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. </li><li>Serve on committees as assigned. </li><li>Remain current on instructional practices in education. </li></ul>
