<p>Job Description:</p> <p>TITLE: ORTON-GILLINGHAM SPECIALIST</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Certification at the associate level in Orton-Gillingham or currently in pursuit </li><li>Connecticut certification in Special Education or Reading (preferred) </li><li>Experience working with students with dyslexia or language-based learning disabilities </li><li>Strong collaboration and communication skills </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Special Services</p> <p>JOB GOAL: The Orton-Gillingham (OG) Specialist provides structured, multisensory literacy instruction to students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. This role supports students through direct intervention, collaborates with staff, and helps build internal capacity for evidence-based literacy practices.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct, individualized and small-group Orton-Gillingham instruction </li><li>Assess student reading needs and progress monitor regularly </li><li>Develop and implement targeted intervention plans </li><li>Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers </li><li>Participate in PPT/IEP meetings and contribute to goal development </li><li>Support staff with strategies aligned to structured literacy practices </li><li>Provides Professional Development to staff </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYEMENT: 187 day position</p> <p>EVALUATION: Performance review of this job will be evaluated by the building principal in conjunction with the Wilton Staff Appraisal Plan.</p>
