<p>Job Title: Clinical Practice Director, DC</p> <p>Type: Full-time</p> <p>Start Date: July 1, 2025</p> <p>Location: Flexible within the DC-metro area (must be able to regularly commute within the DC metro area) Candidate must reside in the DC-metro area</p> <p>Priority Application Deadline: June, 16th 2025</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country, from pre-service teachers to system-level leaders. Our mission is to ensure that all students are taught by excellent educators, in order to build a more just world where every student has a clear path to a fulfilling life.</p> <p>As part of the Teacher Preparation team, the Clinical Practice Director, DC serves as the instructional leader for enrolled students in teacher preparation programs across the District of Columbia. Reporting to the Department Chair of Clinical Practice, this faculty leader advances Relay's mission by setting and leading the vision for student success and instructional partnerships in DC. The Director also plays a key cross-functional leadership role, ensuring compliance with state standards and contributing to national projects as part of a team of clinical practice directors.</p> <p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>The essential responsibilities of this position, while not limited to the following, will include:</p> <p>Teaching Responsibilities (30%):</p> <ul> <li>Teach up to 50 students per section, with a maximum teaching load of 9 graduate-level credits per term (schedule may vary by term). </li><li>Observe and support students virtually throughout the academic year. </li><li>Teach and /or observe virtually throughout the day, potentially two nights a week, and no more than four Saturdays a term. </li><li>Offer regular office hours and collaborate with student support services to proactively address academic or programmatic issues. </li><li>Participate in in-person instructional or recruitment events as required (e.g., by state or grant-funded programs) </li></ul> <p>Partnership Leadership & Development (30%):</p> <ul> <li>Lead local and institutional projects aligned with DC initiatives and Relay's strategic plan, as directed by the Dean of Clinical Experience. </li><li>Maintain regular communication with school partners to ensure student progress and support program completion (e.g., progress updates, advisory boards, mentor coordination). </li><li>Partner with national clinical practice leaders to ensure DC mentor teachers receive high-quality training, including sharing training calendars, tracking participation, and facilitating 1-2 sessions per term. </li></ul> <p>State Educator Preparation Program (EPP) Lead (25%)</p> <ul> <li>Ensure open line of communication and consistent up-to-date knowledge regarding state educator preparation program regulators and teacher licensure agencies. </li><li>Serve as the primary liaison to local and state educational agencies to ensure timely and accurate communication on policy updates, compliance expectations, and institutional reporting. </li><li>Audit student progress toward licensure and certification (e.g., coursework, assessments, fieldwork), and partner with internal teams to remove barriers and drive student success. </li><li>Lead training and ongoing communications to ensure faculty and clinical partners understand and meet local/state EPP policies and requirements. </li></ul> <p>People Leadership (10%):</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and coach full time and part time clinical practice faculty (e.g., Professors, Field Supervisors, Adjunct Faculty). </li><li>Support faculty development through check-ins, observations, coaching, and formal performance reviews. </li><li>Lead the change management and implementation of new systems or processes assigned to the team. </li></ul> <p>Institutional Service (5%):</p> <ul> <li>Serve the institution through committee, working group, and/or board membership. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>First and foremost, the Clinical Practice Director, DC must share the Relay community's commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we're looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>At least 7 years of work experience and a Graduate degree (masters and/or doctorate) in a relevant educational field </li><li>Be available to teach and/or observe virtually throughout the day, two nights a week, and no more than four Saturdays a term </li><li>Classroom teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or secondary level and experience observing, coaching, and developing elementary, middle, or secondary level teachers </li><li>Strong project management skills paired with the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources </li><li>Demonstrated design and/or teaching experience with online coursework </li><li>Effective interpersonal skills and experience developing collegial working relationships with diverse populations </li></ul> <p>The following qualifications are highly preferred:</p> <p>Evidence of or potential for:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated ability to integrate inclusive, equity-minded, and anti-oppressive practices into teaching, leadership, and partnership work </li><li>Deep understanding of the DC educator preparation landscape in the state </li><li>Active involvement in national organizations in the field of education </li><li>Successful management of a team of full and/or part time employees </li></ul> <p>Relay prepares teachers and school leaders to teach students of all identities and backgrounds in order to push toward a time when this country no longer faces stark educational inequities. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity. The salary range for this role is $100,116-$120,139. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range, $100,116, to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee's time at Relay GSE.</p> <p>To ensure internal pay equity:</p> <ul> <li>Relay does not currently differentiate starting salary offers based on years of experience, </li><li>All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and </li><li>Relay does not negotiate salary offers. </li></ul> <p>Relay offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
