<p>QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master's degree from an approved school counselor program or additional coursework from an approved school counselor program sufficient to be eligible for IDOE School Counselor licensure.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Valid IDOE certification/licensure in School Counseling.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of five years of experience in the field of public education,</p> </li></ol> <p>including successful experience as a classroom teacher. Previous experience in school counseling and/or school leadership preferred.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To provide leadership in the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive, student-centered guidance program that fosters academic, career, social and emotional growth for all students. The Director of Guidance will ensure the delivery of high-quality counseling services, promote college and career readiness, support mental health initiatives, and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders to help students succeed both academically and personally. The Director of High School Guidance works closely with the High School Principal to provide for the ongoing development and improvement of the entire instructional program of the school.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists the principal in administration of the instructional program of the school. </li><li>Assumes primary responsibility for the development of the master schedule. </li><li>Supervises and mentors guidance counselors, providing support in their professional development and ensuring effective counseling practices. </li><li>Supervises the work of the Guidance Registrar in the enrollment process and maintenance of student records. </li><li>Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, and assigning of the instructional staff. </li><li>Works with the principal and teachers to assure the articulation of the instructional program throughout the district. </li><li>Establishes a program for the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the curriculum in partnership with the instructional leaders to meet the needs of all levels of students. </li><li>Supervises the coordination of state and national testing as required by law and policy. </li><li>Serves as liaison with post-secondary partners (Ivy Tech) to assure smooth operation of joint programs. </li><li>Supervises all aspects of the student educational program connected with the Southeastern Career Center. </li><li>Assists the principal with the creation, review, and editing of the School Improvement Plan and the School Accreditation process. </li><li>Coordinates with the school treasurer, instructional leaders, and the principal to recommend adoption of appropriate curricular materials and assessment of any supply fees. </li><li>Directs creation of, and edits for publication, the curriculum guide. </li><li>Assumes the responsibility, under the supervision of the principal, for the annual commencement exercises. </li><li>Assumes the responsibility for the annual student registration process. </li><li>Works with teachers and other staff members to familiarize them with the general range of services offered by the Guidance Department. </li><li>Takes an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents and the community at large. </li><li>Assists in the supervision of the corridors and lunch area and at other activities where assistance may be needed. </li><li>Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned. </li><li>Keeps abreast of changes and development in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field. </li><li>Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and attends school sponsored activities, functions and athletic events. </li><li>Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned. </li></ul>
