<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Principal for Torrington Middle School - Grades 7-8</p> <p>ABOUT TORRINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL</p> <p>Torrington Middle School is a dynamic, student-centered learning community serving grades 7-8 in a newly built, state-of-the-art facility shared with Torrington High School. The school is committed to fostering academic excellence, promoting student well-being, and preparing every student for success in high school and beyond. TMS prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and partnerships that elevate student voice and strengthen community.</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>The Principal of Torrington Middle School serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students and staff. The principal oversees the development and implementation of systems, policies, and programs that promote high academic achievement, support a positive school climate, and address chronic student absenteeism. As TMS enters a new era on a shared middle/high school campus, the next principal will lead efforts to build strong organizational structures while cultivating a collaborative and connected school culture.</p> <p>(see attached job description for more details of key responsibilities)</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut Intermediate Administration and Supervision Certification (092) </li><li>Minimum of 3-5 years of successful administrative experience at the secondary level </li><li>Demonstrated success in instructional leadership, school climate improvement, and systems management </li></ul> <p>DESIRED COMPETENCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Strategic and systems-oriented thinker with strong organizational skills </li><li>Skilled in cultivating a positive and inclusive school climate </li><li>Proficient in using data systems and technology to drive improvement </li><li>Effective communicator who builds trust with students, families, staff, and community members </li><li>Committed to continuous improvement and equity-focused leadership </li></ul> <p>SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Salary and terms of employment are according to the Torrington Public Schools Administrators Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
