<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Contract/Hourly Employment/Extracurricular Assignment - Professional Personnel</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>12/10/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Central Office Itinerant</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>2025/2026</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>12/16/2025</p> <p>County:</p> <p>&nbsp Mason County Schools&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Mentor for Beginning Teachers Job Description</p> <p>Location: Schools where beginning teacher are employed.</p> <p>We need mentors at the following schools: Ashton, Beale, Leon, Point Pleasant Intermediate, Point Pleasant, Primary, Roosevelt, and Hannan</p> <p>As needed basis</p> <p>Salary: $500.00 per semester</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of five years successful teaching experience. </li><li>Mentor training, or commitment to obtain at first available session. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to transmit effective teaching strategies. </li><li>Is a good listener. </li><li>Can communicate openly with peers. </li><li>Is sensitive to the needs of other staff, understanding that teachers may be effective using a variety of styles, and is careful not to be overly judgmental. </li><li>Demonstrates non-judgmental observations and confirming skills. </li><li>Keeps abreast of current educational trends and research. </li><li>Be a member of faculty in which beginning teacher is assigned, if possible. </li><li>Teach or have taught at/near grade level or certification area of beginning teacher when possible. </li></ul> <p>Major Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate weekly with assigned new teacher(s). </li><li>Help new teacher(s) with the PLC process. </li><li>Keep a log of all activities between the mentor and the new teacher(s). The log includes dates of meetings and topics of discussion, but does not include evaluative information. </li><li>Retain all information from the pairing as privileged communication. </li><li>Demonstrate lessons for the new teacher(s) as needed. </li><li>Be a role model in all aspects of professionalism. </li><li>Support and counsel the teacher(s). </li></ul>
