The University is an equal opportunity employer and seeks candidates who understand, respect and can contribute to the University's mission and values.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates complete understanding of departmental requirements. Monitors daily performance of staff, including the quality of products and service, sanitation, and food handling practices, and also ensures compliance with established standards. </li><li>Accurately inventories the supplies daily and requisitions items needed to meet par levels. Depending on the unit, may have additional ordering responsibilities. </li><li>Assists managers with daily schedules and work assignments. Shifts staff to complete essential duties when need arises. Coordinates work of staff to promote efficiency of operations. </li><li>Trains staff, assists with orientation of new associates, recommends actions necessary for staff discipline, terminations, promotions, and provides input to annual performance. </li></ul> <p>NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for cash handling procedures, including operating the cash register, cash drawer reconciliation, and deposits at the end of the shift. </li><li>Monitors customer needs and responds to any concerns or questions in a friendly and courteous manner. </li><li>Routinely inspects areas of assigned responsibility and reports all substandard safety and sanitation, security, or equipment conditions to the manager. Consistently monitors standards and makes recommendations for change to managers. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned (daily/weekly cleaning)-special projects. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Formal Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma required or GED equivalent. </li></ul> <p>Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>3 years minimum experience in food and/or customer service; combination of post-secondary education/certifications and experience may also be considered. </li></ul> <p>Specific Job Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Background in food service industry including preparation and production and safety and sanitation </li></ul> <p>Equipment Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>General knowledge of kitchen equipment such as: slicers, dish machines, ovens, fryers, mixers, knives, etc. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Formal Education:</p> <ul> <li>ServSafe Certified. </li></ul> <p>Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>5 years experience in food and/or customer service with at least 1 year in institutional food service. </li></ul> <p>Work Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated organizational skills with excellent written and oral skills </li><li>Ability to work with a diverse work force </li><li>Ability to work in a group </li><li>Must be self-motivated and able to work with general supervision </li><li>Ability to teach and train </li><li>Inventory and ordering skills preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:</p> <p>Tools, Machinery, and Equipment Used:</p> <ul> <li>Any of the above-mentioned equipment as needed. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Exposure to extremes in temperature and cleaning chemicals. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to lift 10 pounds, up to 30 pounds with assistance. </li><li>Standing and walking for extended periods of time. </li></ul> <p>Special Message to Applicants:</p> <p>Schedule during normal operating hours</p> <p>Friday through Monday 6:00am - 5:00pm Off Tues/Wed/Thurs</p> <p>Valid Driver License required with a good driving record and no traffic violations. Must be able to meet and maintain VU driving privileges as outlined by Villanova's Risk Management's Small Cart policy.</p> <p>Posting Date: 03/31/2026 Closing Date (11:59pm ET): Salary Posting Information:</p> <p>This position falls within hourly grade 12 and the range is $21.92-27.36/hr.
