<p>Position Type:</p> <p>High School Teaching/Media Arts Teacher</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>8/12/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>New London High School Multi Magnet Campus</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Media Arts Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 6-12. The Media Arts Teacher will help foster a love for music, encourage student creativity, and support student learning across various areas of the subject, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, teach, and assess media arts courses for grades 6-12 in alignment with the National Core Arts Standards (NCAS), ISTE Standards, Common Core State Standards, and CT State Frameworks. </li><li>Develop instruction that meets the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students, fostering both basic and advanced skills in media literacy, communication, and technology. </li><li>Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies, including TV production, radio, computer labs, iPads, Chromebooks, iMacs, keyboard labs, and other tools to support student-created media artworks. </li><li>Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, creativity, responsibility, and digital citizenship. </li><li>Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and classroom procedures. </li><li>Evaluate, document, and communicate student progress regularly, providing feedback and support to encourage growth. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to integrate media arts across content areas and grade levels, develop curriculum, and coordinate student showcases and events. </li><li>Work with school specialists, staff, parents, and students to address learning needs and promote achievement. </li><li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational technology and media arts practices, seeking ongoing professional growth. </li><li>Facilitate HOT Schools programming and contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote the arts. </li><li>Provide multiple opportunities for students to present and share their work through events, extracurricular activities, and digital platforms. </li><li>Encourage students to explore artistic expression, take creative risks, and build on their unique strengths. </li><li>Assist administration in implementing school policies, rules, and procedures. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid State of Connecticut certification (048 or 062) </li><li>Highly qualified with required competency in the content area </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual </li></ul> <p>SALARY: determined by professional experience and NLEA contract.</p> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Candidates from diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p>
