This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our community.</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Patient Care and Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for examinations, and assist healthcare providers during procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Measure vital signs, record medical history, and update patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform basic medical procedures, including phlebotomy, administering injections, and collecting laboratory specimens.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide patient education on healthcare procedures, medication instructions, and preventive care as directed by provider.</p> </li><li> <p>Clinic Operations and Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and maintain efficient clinic operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure cleanliness, organization, and stocking of exam rooms and medical supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with medical equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate referrals to specialists and community resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Documentation and Recordkeeping:</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all interactions, procedures, and interventions.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality guidelines, ensuring the security of protected health information (PHI).</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with coding and billing processes, verifying insurance information, and collecting co-payments.</p> </li><li> <p>Communication and Teamwork:</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, providing clear instructions and compassionate support.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.</p> </li></ul> <p>OFF-SITE WORK:</p> <p>Although it is not typical, Off-Site Work could, at times, be required of this position. This off-site work will typically include, but is not limited to, performing nursing duties (i.e. Vital Signs) at Health Fairs or other HOPE Sponsored Events and attending off-site meetings, trainings or conferences.</p> <p>SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. </li><li>Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). </li><li>Solid knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and clinical practices. </li><li>Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment. </li><li>Commitment to delivering culturally sensitive and patient-centered care. </li></ul> <p>Note: This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the Medical Assistant position.
