Buffett, acquired Precision Castparts Corp.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Located in Paramount, California, Press Forge is a premium supplier of forging services and products to commercial and military aerospace, nuclear, oil and gas exploration, and industrial markets. We are the largest forger in the United States dedicated to the conversion of customer owned material. Our commitment is to process your material to your exact requirements with the flexibility and short lead times only a company our size can provide. We are the experts in material conversion and forging of titanium, steel, and high temperature alloys.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Level Two: This role will involve ensuring the safe and efficient operation of complex systems such as high-temperature furnaces (2100 degrees), hydraulic forging presses, and automated billet grinders. The technician will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance to keep equipment in peak condition, supporting our commitment to flexibility, quality, and short lead times in the forging of titanium and other high-performance alloys. Typically, 3-6 years of experience.</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction. </li><li>All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures. </li><li>In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives. </li><li>Ensures that assigned machinery is kept in good working condition using preventive maintenance procedures and in accordance with manufacturer's specifications </li><li>Inspects equipment for broken or loose safety cables, bolts, nuts, sprints, wedges and shims. Repair or replace any parts found to be unacceptable. </li><li>Check lubricators on the compressed air lines from the water separators in the compressed air supply lines. </li><li>Checks the level of hydraulic air reservoir, adds oil as needed, checks for oil leaks on hydraulic lines and fixes accordingly. </li><li>Checks on furnaces and associated equipment following work order procedures. </li><li>Maintain and repair high-temperature furnaces (operating up to 2100°F), ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards. </li><li>Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic open-die forging presses, ensuring efficient and reliable operation </li><li>Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems. </li><li>Assists supervisor on establishing procedures for preventive maintenance on furnaces and equipment. </li><li>Rectifies faults and problems reported by production department under supervisor's instructions. </li><li>Manufactures thermocouples for production, laboratory testing, and survey as defined in the most recent Work Instruction. </li><li>Carries out necessary repairs to the furnace linings. </li><li>Manufactures refractory fiber modules & cast shapes and carries out repairs to refractory linings to specifications. </li><li>Prepares and sets survey stands to defined procedures and in accordance with the most recent Work Instructions. </li><li>Assists contractors with refractory installations. </li><li>Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. </li><li>Disassembles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. </li><li>Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. </li><li>Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. </li><li>Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. </li><li>Repairs or replaces defective parts in hydraulic equipment such as valves, motors, cylinders and pumps; conditioning equipment such as grinding and abrasive blast machines; mobile hydraulic equipment; and other plant equipment as designated by supervisor. </li><li>Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. </li><li>Lubricates and cleans parts. </li><li>Starts devices to test their performance. </li><li>Daily inspection and record keeping of various pieces of plant equipment. </li><li>Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures. </li><li>Installs new ignition systems, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions, water pumps, hydraulic hoses and other parts. </li><li>Repairs shift linkages, head gaskets, brakes, universal joint bearings, radiators, and changes seals on lift cylinders. </li><li>Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjusts. </li><li>Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications. </li><li>Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings. </li><li>Reads manufacturer's manuals and spare part books, orders replacement parts. </li><li>Carries out complete overhaul to mobile equipment, installs new electric wiring, hydraulic hoses, valves, pumps and cylinders. </li><li>Locates proper dies as called for by Forge Department supervisors. </li><li>Lifts specified die sections into presses using cranes, forklifts, manipulators or appropriate lifting devices. </li><li>Attaches dies per instructions, checking threads, match marks and die alignment </li><li>Loads dies in a timely manner. </li><li>Keeps press areas clean. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, such as safety rules, memos, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. </li><li>Ability to write simple correspondence and routine reports. </li><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical drawings, manufacturer's literature, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, supervisors or managers. </li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
