<p>Gravette Public Schools</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Position Title: School Nurse</p> <p>Department: Assigned Building</p> <p>Reports To: Principal</p> <p>Evaluated By: Principal</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The School Nurse will provide health services to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide nursing care to students and staff. </li><li>Conduct required health screenings and notifies parents when further medical evaluation is indicated. </li><li>Maintain current cumulative medical records on all students. </li><li>Implement individual student health care plans and participate in IEP development when applicable. </li><li>Administer medication and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student's physician. </li><li>Participate with district/school staff in developing and implementing the total school health program. </li><li>Provide health related information and resources to students, staff and parents as needed. </li><li>Actively participate in school safety plans. </li><li>Attend committee meetings and trainings regarding health service and health curriculum. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Registered Nurse (RN) license </li><li>CPR and First Aid Certification required </li><li>Pediatric and/or emergency medicine experience preferred </li><li>Clean background check </li><li>Oral and written communication skills </li><li>Ability to operate office equipment such as a computer, printer, fax machine, and telephone </li></ul> <p>Physical requirements</p> <ul> <li>Be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time </li><li>Be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach and lift (up to 50 lbs.) </li><li>Physically assist students as needed </li></ul>
