<p>Washington Trust is seeking an experienced banking professional to lead our Card Operations team. The Debit Card and Mastercard Manager will manage the bank's debit card portfolio, including Mastercard-branded products, the strategic vision of the bank's debit card program, and lead the Card Operations group to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and superior customer experience. This role works closely with internal teams-Marketing, Retail Banking, Retail Operations, Fraud, Compliance, and others -as well as key external vendors and network partners to deliver secure, innovative, competitive card solutions that support the bank's community-focused mission. This is a hybrid position with required on-site work at our offices in Westerly, RI.</p> <p>Card Operations Leadership:</p> <p>Provide oversight and management of the Card Operations group, ensuring efficient day-to-day processing, card issuance, maintenance, dispute resolution and chargeback processes. Establish operational standards, workflows, continuous process improvement and performance goals for the team. Ensure key SOX controls are identified, documented and followed by the team.</p> <p>Program Oversight:</p> <p>Develop and execute strategies for debit card and Mastercard programs aligned with the bank's growth objectives in partnership with various business areas. Proactively monitor and analyze card performance, usage trends, and profitability to optimize product offerings, using root cause analysis. Routinely analyzing and sharing data, trends, and suggested solutions with key stakeholders including Marketing and Retail Banking. Manage all aspects of MasterCard Principal relationship, ensuring the bank is fully leveraging this partnership.</p> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration:</p> <p>Partner with Marketing and Retail banking to design and implement promotional campaigns, educational materials, and community outreach initiatives that drive card adoption and usage. Participate in cross functional projects and act as business line lead in projects related to Debit Card. Actively participate in all applicable change management and governance programs. Maintain routine communication with key stakeholders to ensure alignment across business areas.</p> <p>Vendor & Network Management:</p> <p>Serve as the primary liaison with Mastercard and other card network partners. Manage relationships with card processors, fraud monitoring services, and fulfillment vendors.</p> <p>Compliance & Risk Management:</p> <p>Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, Reg E) and internal policies. Coordinate with the fraud prevention team to implement strategies to manage and ultimately deter fraud.</p> <p>Customer Experience:</p> <p>Enhance cardholder experience through digital wallet integration, contactless payments, and self-service tools.</p>
