<p>The City of Savannah Police Department is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to join the team as a Teletype Technician - Savannah Police Department Information Management Division!</p> <p>This position is responsible for creating and maintaining records for the Police Department.</p> <p>We offer great pay, excellent benefits to include medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance, employee/spouse/child supplemental life insurance, short-term disability, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, deferred compensation plan(457 B), pension plan, flexible spending account, home purchase assistance and 12 paid holidays!</p> <p>Women, Minorities, and Veterans Are Encouraged to Apply!</p> <p>Type's letters, memoranda, forms, orders, correspondence, and other documents.</p> <p>Participates in training, workshops, and seminars.</p> <p>Compiles information using various computer systems and software applications.</p> <p>Prepares and maintains files, logs, and records.</p> <p>Handles confidential information, including personnel paperwork and correspondence; ensures adherence to confidentiality and all local, state, and federal laws regarding records and records management.</p> <p>Enters, clears and cancels wanted/missing person and lost and stolen property information using the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) network in accordance with GCIC policy.</p> <p>Reviews, proofreads and validates Records maintained in the GCIC database for the Department.</p> <p>Develops and maintains filing systems; archives records according to GCIC and City of Savannah policy.</p> <p>Answers telephones; accepts and relays messages; forwards calls; answers questions; provides information; receives service requests.</p> <p>Enters information into the computer; reads and processes reports; uses the computer to check and correct information.</p> <p>Obtains, reviews, and disseminates data.</p> <p>Maintains and expands job knowledge, skills, and abilities.</p> <p>Will serve as teletype operator and perform all associated duties assigned to the teletype unit.</p> <p>Interacts with investigators and other department personnel in reference to GCIC record entries.</p> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned.High School Graduate or GED plus two years of experience in general clerical in filing and records management, experience with current City software required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license is required.</p> <p>Will be required to obtain CJIS Network Operator Certification within 30 days of employment.</p> <p>Days off may vary. Will be required to work rotating shifts.</p> <p>Work Location: 6600 Abercorn St, Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm , Monday - Friday</p> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <p>Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.</p> <p>Knowledge of department policies and procedures.</p> <p>Knowledge of record keeping, report preparation, filing methods, and records management techniques.</p> <p>Knowledge of clerical practices and procedures, such as letter writing and the operation of standard office equipment.</p> <p>Skill in organizing work and setting priorities.</p> <p>Skill in reading with comprehension.</p> <p>Skill in the operation of standard office equipment.</p> <p>Skill in the operation of computers and various software programs.</p> <p>Skill in oral and written communication.</p>
