<p>Summer Associates - Anti Hunger Corps VISTA</p> <p>Hunger Free America's Summer Associates program engages members and partnering organizations in moving families beyond the soup kitchen by breaking down barriers and providing improved access to healthful, nutritious foods. Our program aims to address hunger, poverty, and build the capacity of the agencies that address these issues. Summer Associates assist programs that improve access to food from government and nonprofit sources for targeted populations in particular and food insecure people in general; enable residents of food deserts to access healthier foods through farmers markets and community gardens; grow the number of low-income children able to obtain free school breakfasts and summer meals; and recruit and manage more volunteers, particularly high-impact, skilled volunteers. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.</p> <p>Member Duties : Summer Associates serve a ten-week term (6/15/26-8/23/26) and assist food security organizations. Their activities include: -Helping with the preparation and distribution of meals -Enhancing Capacity and Sustainability of the Summer Food Service Program -Create and Distribute Educational Material for the Summer Food Service Program -Boosting participation in USDA's Summer EBT program for families with children -Helping SNAP recipients comply with new work reporting requirements -Recruiting, Training, and Managing Volunteers for Various Initiatives -Facilitating Nutrition-Related Educational Activities The ideal candidate will be interested in child hunger issues, have experience working with diverse communities, be flexible and willing to work on all kinds of projects, able to work independently and as a member of a team, reliable, and have a good work ethic, organizational and communications skills.</p> <p>Program Benefits : Living Allowance , Education award upon successful completion of service , Training , Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend .</p> <p>Terms :</p> <p>Permits attendance at school during off hours , Permits working at another job during off hours .</p> <p>Service Areas :</p> <p>Public Safety , Community Outreach , Health , Hunger , Children/Youth .</p> <p>Skills :</p> <p>Computers/Technology , Team Work , Community Organization , Social Services , Communications , Public Speaking , Public Health .</p>
