<p>The Administrative Services Director of the Fire Department holds the highest-ranking civilian position within the Savannah Fire Department. Reporting directly to the Fire Chief and serving as part of the command staff as the Chief of Staff, the Director is responsible for managing the Department's systems and programs, overseeing financial operations and logistics, and handling credentialing for CFAI, ISO, and NFPA 1710.</p> <ul> <li>Manage administrative operations of the fire department, including budgeting and finance. </li><li>Ensure compliance with time-sensitive inspections, reviews, and reports in collaboration with executive staff and supervisors. </li><li>Oversee the accreditation process, ensuring adherence to state and national standards, and update policies as needed. </li><li>Conduct research for policy revisions and draft recommendations for subject matter expert review. </li><li>Represent the Fire Department at conferences and assist other agencies with mock assessments. </li><li>Provide accreditation training to new employees and serve as a liaison with accreditation bodies. </li><li>Stay updated on relevant state and federal regulations and manage records and historical directives. </li><li>Supervise accreditation projects, conduct ISO rating process reviews, and report progress to administrative staff. </li><li>Oversee the department's budget, develop policies and work standards, and assist with grant administration. </li><li>Foster cooperative relationships with other public safety agencies and manage departmental programs for efficiency. </li><li>Develop and implement administrative policies, budget procedures, and analyze operations for cost-effectiveness. </li><li>Prepare regular reports and perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Analyzes operations to determine cost effectiveness, maintains standards, and makes improvements; may work on special projects for the Fire Chief. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, information technology, or a closely related field, five (5) years of recent and relevant senior-level experience administering public sector functions, including three (3) years of managerial and supervisory responsibility, which would have allowed you to develop the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. May substitute 4 years of relevant experience for an equivalent combination of education and experience. </p> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>10 years' experience and 5 years managerial. </li><li>Possess a master's degree in public administration or a related field. </li><li>Knowledge of administrative principles, including goal setting, program development, project implementation, and evaluation. </li><li>Understanding of departmental budget management and procurement of supplies and equipment. </li><li>Familiarity with public sector unions, particularly in public safety, and with the financial aspects of collective bargaining agreements. </li><li>Awareness of relevant laws, safety practices, and equipment usage related to fire services. </li><li>Proficiency in computer applications, such as word processing, law enforcement records management, CAD/RMS, Smartsheet, and spreadsheets. </li><li>Skills in problem-solving and communication across diverse backgrounds, particularly in stressful situations. </li><li>Knowledge of city and departmental personnel policies, with strong oral and written communication abilities. </li><li>Ability to lead, make strategic decisions, and manage multiple priorities effectively. </li><li>Capability to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures while maintaining efficiency. </li><li>Skill in supervising, evaluating staff work, and providing training for professional development. </li><li>Expertise in administrative duties, including budget development and understanding complex regulations. </li><li>Proficiency in preparing clear written reports and addressing community concerns. </li><li>Ability to build effective working relationships with officials, coworkers, and the public. </li></ul>
