<p>JOB TITLE: Grounds Specialist</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Operations</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Operations</p> <p>UNIVERSITY MISSION: Rochester Christian University prepares students for professional and personal success as they serve in God's world.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The Grounds Specialist is an individual who is dedicated, proactive, engaging and motivated to be a team member in the Grounds Department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate acute attention to details at all times. Maintaining the campus grounds, roads, parking lots, walkways and overall landscape will be the primary responsibility. This person will also perform general campus maintenance of facilities and assist with setting up for events. The overall goal of this position is to ensure that the campus remains clean, orderly and attractive at all times while being supportive of the University mission and core values.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) </li><li>Valid driver's license </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Complete work relating to the installation and maintenance of grounds including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, insect/weed control, raking, seeding, and sodding. </li><li>Perform tasks relating to the installation and maintenance of trees, shrubs and flowers, including pruning, cabling, fertilization, irrigation, insect/weed control and removal as required. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness of grounds including litter control, leaf removal and sweeping of paved areas. </li><li>Operate and maintain equipment including tractors, one ton dump trucks, lawnmowers, line trimmers, blowers, chain saws, rototillers, salt spreaders and snow removal equipment. </li><li>Report to work under emergency conditions such as snow removal, downed trees and storm water maintenance, as requested. </li><li>Assist with office moves and set up facilities for meetings and special functions as required. </li><li>Assist with remodeling projects and general work orders. </li><li>Responsible for on call duties relating to snow and ice removal as well as facility maintenance. </li><li>Responsible to maintain and organize campus tools, vehicles and equipment including making or scheduling repairs as needed. </li><li>Proficiently operate specialized tools, equipment, and other small engine tools related to completing and managing grounds work. </li><li>Promote an inclusive Rochester through demonstration of our Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession or discipline. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. </li><li>Ability to set schedules, manage priorities and complete work orders all while paying close attention to details. </li><li>Ability to operate commercial lawn maintenance equipment and snow removal (including truck mounted plow) equipment. </li><li>Computer skills to document processes and procedures and utilize a work order system. </li><li>Display a positive, proactive attitude toward delivering superior customer service. </li><li>Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds. </li><li>Supportive of the University mission.
