<p>Under the direct supervision of the RN and Nurse Manager, this position is designed to enhance the flow of the operating room. Ensures that rooms are cleaned in a timely and complete manner between cases. Keeps assigned areas clean, sanitary and aseptic. The OR EVS Tech is trained to perform certain activities which include: cleaning of physical environment in surgical department, storing supplies and maintaining the operating room in a clean, orderly condition.</p> <p>Duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Follows specific procedure to perform between case cleaning of OR rooms in accordance with AORN guidelines </li><li>Dusts all surfaces that collect dust, removes all trash from area and cleans all furniture and metal fixtures. </li><li>Maintains equipment for cleanliness and cleans work cart and restocks as needed. Reports any repairs that need to be done. Changes mop buckets as specified by Infection control standards. </li><li>Responsible for assisting with patient transport and positioning as needed. </li><li>Responsible to keep dirty utility room clean and organized. </li><li>Ensures all OR floors and interior walkways and common areas are clean, serviceable and maintained in a timely manner. </li><li>Moves furniture and other objects as needed in order to ensure adequate cleaning. </li><li>Performs other duties as may be assigned. </li><li>Orients and mentors new staff members. </li><li>Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, skills and abilities:</p> <ul> <li>This position requires the following minimal requirements: </li><li>Must have customer service abilities including effective listening skills. </li><li>Must be detail oriented with the ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time. </li><li>Must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. </li><li>Must role model ethical, safe and fiscally responsible practices. </li><li>Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. </li><li>Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities. </li><li>Must demonstrate teamwork and team building skills. </li><li>Meets annual requirements for mandatory education. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of the population-specific differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. </li><li>Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers. </li><li>Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct philosophy. </li><li>Promotes positive and collaborative atmosphere with all members of the healthcare team. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience Required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of one year housekeeping experience in a healthcare/Operating room setting preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical demands/working conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical requirements include constant standing/walking, twisting, pushing/pulling, using arm, leg and back muscles, smelling, vision, hearing, color vision, finger dexterity and working with hot, cold or wet surroundings. Frequent bending/stooping, lifting 50 pounds and working with or near chemicals and bioburden. Occasionally sitting, climbing and using hand tools or power tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of one year housekeeping experience in a healthcare/Operating room setting.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Vocational/technical training preferred. </li></ul> <p>License and/or Certification Required:</p> <ul> <li>Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required upon hire and maintained. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, skills and abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Basic medical terminology preferred. </li><li>Basic math and measurements. </li><li>Basic understanding of organization's environment of care and infection control policies and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Skilled at:</p> <ul> <li>Good interpersonal and communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English demonstrating a command of basic grammar and spelling is required; ability to communicate Bilingually (Spanish/English) is preferred. </li><li>Understand and follow specific written and verbal instructions and procedures. </li><li>Learn and demonstrate competency in standard clinical procedures within specialty area, according to </li></ul> <p>established protocols.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. </li><li>Learn and follow established protocols in order to initiate appropriate action in emergency/crisis situations </li><li>Learn and demonstrate competency in basic data entry/data retrieval in electronic patient records and/or </li></ul> <p>patient supply systems utilized on unit.</p>
