Uses appropriate teaching principles and adult learning methods to deliver information on a variety of perinatal topics, including pregnancy, labor, comfort measures and pain management, delivery, cesarean birth (C-section), birthing alternatives, postpartum, baby care, and tools to use during childbirth. Increases consumers'/patients' awareness of the support services, learning opportunities, and resources that Sutter Health offers. Collaborates with peers and other healthcare providers to ensure classes are relevant and responsive to a diverse customer population, as well as meets department needs. Fosters a professional and collaborative relationship between women, their support groups, and health care professionals.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. </li><li>Bachelor's: Healthcare related field or equivalent education/experience </li></ul> <p>CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:</p> <ul> <li>CCE-Certified Childbirth Educator </li><li>OR CBE-Certifed Breastfeeding Educator </li><li>OR IBLCE-Certified Lactation Consultant </li><li>OR CBC-Certified Breastfeeding Counselor </li><li>BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider </li></ul> <p>TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>1 year recent relevant experience. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of the child birthing process with a basic understanding of medical terminology, current trends in childbirth issues and practices, comfort measures/pain management, patient safety and privacy, and local/state/federal regulations. </li><li>Proven teaching and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and professionally communicate complex or sensitive information to diverse audiences. </li><li>Basic knowledge of word processing, presentation, and email software, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. </li><li>Prioritize assignments and work within standardized guidelines to complete tasks with little supervision. </li><li>Identify and evaluate routine or standard problems, then select appropriate solution from established options. </li><li>Ensure the privacy of each patient's PHI. </li><li>Work independently as well as be part of the team, while accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. </li><li>Travel in accordance with job requirements, including availability to teach classes on the weekend as needed. </li><li>Develop collaborative relationships to coordinate efforts and to address the expectation of the physicians, midwives, nurses, support, and management staff. </li></ul> <p>Job Shift:</p> <p>Day/Evening</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>Per Diem/Casual</p> <p>Shift Hours:</p> <p>8</p> <p>Days of the Week:</p> <p>Variable</p> <p>Weekend Requirements:</p> <p>Every other Weekend, Rotating Weekends</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>No</p> <p>Unions:</p> <p>No</p> <p>Position Status:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Weekly Hours:</p> <p>0</p> <p>Employee Status:</p> <p>Per Diem/Casual</p> <p>Sutter Health is an equal opportunity employer EOE/M/F/Disability/Veterans.</p> <p>Pay Range is $46.43 to $60.35 / hour</p> <p>The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health's comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.</p>
