<p>The Assistant Training Director is an 11-month full time position that assists in the development and implementation of the Counseling Center's practicum training consisting of SU graduate students enrolled in various mental health disciplines. Specific responsibilities related to the training program includes assisting the Director of Training with the oversight of the Counseling Center's training committee, coordination with the appropriate academic departments, annual recruitment, selection, and onboarding of graduate student trainees, oversight of trainee evaluation, assisting with overseeing the development of training seminars, coordination of trainee supervision, and the provision of clinical supervision to trainees. Assisting the with the APPIC Pre-doctoral Psychology Internship and collaborating with our colleagues in Healthcare, Recreation, Health Promotion and Student Outreach and Support in the development of interdisciplinary training opportunities. Along with opportunities to provide clinical and administrative supervision to Counseling Center staff therapists. This position also maintains a small clinical caseload and participates in the Counseling Center's on-call rotation.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Masters degree, or higher, in a mental health discipline (e.g. clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or counselor education) in required. </li><li>Licensed or license eligible within the state of NY. </li><li>Five (5) plus years post-degree experience. </li><li>Experience with supervision of graduate level interns as well as experience with managing training programs. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Experience providing clinical services to culturally diverse client population required. </li><li>Experience providing clinical supervision preferred but not required. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in developing training opportunities for graduate student trainees. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. </li><li>Excellent time management skills. </li><li>Experience providing clinical services to culturally diverse client population required. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the oversight of the graduate student training program including policy development, collaboration with corresponding academic departments and Health and Wellness partners, trainee recruitment and on-boarding, seminar development, and supervision of trainees. </li><li>Collaboration with Training Director on the graduate trainee program and assisting with the program maintenance. </li><li>Assist in the day-to-day management of the Counseling Center including provision of clinical and administrative support and supervision to APPIC Interns and Graduate Trainees and Staff Therapists. </li><li>Provision of mental health services including initial evaluations, individual therapy, and group therapy. </li><li>Participate on relevant university and departmental committees and/or teams that have the mission of promoting mental health. </li><li>Participate in Counseling Center's on-call rotation. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
