<p>General Definition of Work</p> <p>The Multi-Tiered System of Support Interventionist, under moderate supervision, performs instructional work with limited decision-making discretion providing direct intervention and monitoring progress of students who need support in literacy and math. This position assists with the implementation of a systematic school-wide approach to tiered intervention within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). Employee performs school-based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the principal.</p> <p>Salary/Status</p> <p>Certified Schedule/Full-time, 10 months</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures </li><li>Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards </li><li>Assist school administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner </li><li>Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of academic interventions that align with the standard treatment protocol for students in need of support to meet course standards </li><li>Identify students for supplemental or intensive intervention support by collaborating with school staff and using student data </li><li>Deliver research-based strategies and techniques to students individually or in groups </li><li>Assist teachers and instructional staff in addressing student learning using the MTSS framework; provide guidance on strategies, tools, and techniques to meet needs of all students </li><li>Develop, document, and maintain ongoing intervention plans in the intervention management system </li><li>Maintain progress by monitoring data on how students are responding to intervention plans; adjust intervention plans as needed </li><li>Monitor the overall effectiveness of each academic intervention </li><li>Collaborate with school leaders to address implementation fidelity and other barriers to success </li><li>Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, determine priorities and resource needs, and encourage parent involvement. Confer with parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic challenges </li><li>Prepare and implement enrichment programs and remediation </li><li>Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) and staff meetings for data analysis and instructional planning </li><li>Participate in professional development focused on acquiring and improving skills and knowledge </li><li>Perform safety functions/drills to maintain a safe instructional environment. Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities </li><li>Perform related work as assigned or required </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, standards, and expectations of curriculum in assigned area and MTSS framework </li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of how to utilize appropriate data and information to make instructional decisions for students </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of various learning styles, curriculum development and program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning </li><li>Skilled in communication, both verbal and written </li><li>Skilled in computers and software including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace </li><li>Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment, or software related to instructional practice and business needs </li><li>Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively </li><li>Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships </li><li>Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums </li><li>Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business </li><li>Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required </li><li>Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a K-12 classroom teaching literacy or math required </li><li>Valid NC Teaching certification or ability to obtain a continuing or initial license with a minimum of three years of literacy or math teaching experience required </li><li>Equivalent combination of education and experience </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation </li><li>Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings </li></ul>
