<p>This application is valid for the 2025-26 Academic Year; a new application must be submitted on or after July 1, 2026, for any openings beyond this period.</p> <p>Division Purpose</p> <p>The Division of Arts and Sciences provides instruction in the disciplines of Arts, Communication, Humanities, Education, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Social & Behavioral Sciences.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>The Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, or related instruction under the supervision of the Department Chair and is responsible for planning and providing student instruction in accordance with approved syllabi, curriculum guidelines, and required program standards.  The Instructor must adhere to the laws, policies, procedures, rules, and applications which govern and affect the college, including the fiscal rules of the State of Colorado.  Teaching methodologies include classroom, hybrid classroom-online, or online.</p> <p>Instructors may teach a full 16-week term, an abbreviated term, or limited hours, depending on discipline/subject.  </p> <p>Absences will be minimal and only for appropriate cause; prior notification of the Department Chair is required.  The Instructor must work with their Chair to provide coverage or obtain approval for class cancellation according to PCC policy.</p> <p>Pueblo Community College is not able to provide sponsorship for applicants who do not currently have the legal right to work in the United States or require transfer of a visa.</p> <p>  </p> <p> An instructor must be a resident of Colorado or reside in Colorado on the first day of employment.</p> <p>An applicant may redact any information on an unofficial transcript that reveals years of attendance, date of graduation, or age.</p> <p>  </p> <p> Pay is $52.92 per lecture hour or $36.35 per lab hour.  Instructors are hired as temporary employees and are not eligible for medical or dental benefits.  However, instructor hours are measured annually to determine potential eligibility for medical benefits the following plan year. </p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Teaches courses as assigned within instructor workload guidelines. </li><li>Meets all scheduled classes. </li><li>Provides adequate preparation of course material. </li><li>Ensures compliance with classroom safety procedures. </li><li>Submits student grades within required timelines. </li></ul> <p>Additional Functions</p> <ul> <li>Works independently with little supervision or as part of a team. </li><li>Communicates effectively with students, colleagues, and others. </li><li>Interacts professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues, and others. </li><li>Assesses individual and department work processes and recommends improvements. </li><li>Complies with State Fiscal Rules, State Board policies, System and College protocols, and departmental procedures. </li><li>Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required. </li><li>Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>At least two years of teaching or instructional experience. </li><li>At least one year of higher education experience. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of best practices in higher education curriculum design and teaching pedagogy </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Ellucian Banner, EAB Navigate, or similar. </li><li>Able to lift 15 pounds. </li><li>Able to read and communicate in English. </li><li>Mobility around campus. </li></ul>
