<p>UPMC is looking for a Patient Service Representative to join our Practice Management Team for our Quantum 1 building in South Side. This position will support behavioral health treatment services of multiple departments utilizing various service delivery models.</p> <p>A Patient Services Representative ensures a smooth and welcoming experience for patients by assisting with check-in, promoting the use of modern healthcare technologies, and educating patients on their financial responsibilities. They handle payment collection, update demographic and insurance information, schedule follow-up appointments, and connect patients to financial advocacy resources when needed. With a strong emphasis on customer service, they help maintain a culture of excellence across UPMC facilities, ensuring patients and their families receive the highest level of care and support.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Educate patients on financial responsibility; connect to advocacy resources as needed </li><li>Verify insurance benefits via online systems or phone </li><li>Obtain patient/family signatures for treatment and financial consent per HIPAA </li><li>Triage and direct phone calls appropriately </li><li>Perform administrative tasks (e.g., scanning, faxing medical records) </li><li>Greet all patients warmly </li><li>Assist with self-arrival technology or manual check-in </li><li>Collect copayments and other applicable payments at time of service </li><li>Confirm/update patient registration at checkout </li><li>Schedule follow-up appointments and ancillary services at checkout </li><li>Provide clear instructions to help patients navigate the healthcare system </li><li>Follow up on unresolved patient needs to ensure continuity of care </li><li>Apply service recovery principles when expectations are not met </li><li>Register patients in Biometrics program and explain benefits </li><li>Promote and assist with MyUPMC portal registration </li><li>Perform duties in line with system-wide competencies and behaviors </li><li>Carry out other assigned tasks as needed </li></ul> <p>Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required.</p> <p>Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred.</p> <p>Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.</p> <p>Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.</p> <p>Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:</p> <ul> <li>Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) </li><li>Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) </li><li>Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal </li><li>Act 33 with renewal </li><li>Act 34 with renewal </li><li>Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal </li></ul> <p>UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran</p>
