<p>Description</p> <p>The St. Louis County Department of Transportation is looking for an Engineering Technician I.This full time position is assigned to Traffic Studies which is located at Operations District 2 in Maryland Heights. The position is part of the count crew, primarily responsible for deployment/retrieval of automatic counters and performing various manual counts. Typical work hours will be 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday - Friday 5:30 a.m. -2:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. depending on need.</p> <p>The typical starting salary will be $20.00 - $24.00 hourly depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. For more information regarding this program, please visithttps://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Essential Function Examples</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for deployment and retrieval of automatic counters, which includes frequent bending/squatting, hammering, and prying. </li><li>Perform various manual traffic counts to include turning movement counts, pedestrian counts and delay studies. </li><li>Assist in updating the guardrail end terminal inventory. </li><li>Prepare traffic count reports. </li><li>Perform snow duty. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Marginal Function Examples</p> <p>Perform assigned duties during mandatory snow shift.</p> <p>Perform other duties as required or assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Equivalent to one year of roadway or related construction inspection experience.</p> <p>Possession of a valid Drivers License.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.
