<p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates and provides services to students who are returning to school from extended absences related to mental health and medically-based difficulties. </li><li>Assists the STAY team in developing re-entry plans and informs decisions about management of student mental health, performance, and workload. </li><li>Provides case management, gathers and maintains data as it relates to goals developed within a student's re-entry plan. </li><li>Tutors and assists children individually, in small groups, and within the classroom setting to help manage assignments and reinforce concepts presented by teachers. </li><li>Observes students' performance and records relevant data to assess progress. </li><li>Assists students in managing day-to-day social/emotional and mental health-based issues. </li><li>Interfaces with teachers and related service providers to coordinate instructional efforts, reintegration schedule, and workload. </li><li>Works directly with students to develop a daily re-entry schedule and supports their re-integration back to academic and vocational programming. </li><li>Provides weekly progress reports to students, families, teachers, and related service providers. </li><li>Schedules meetings necessary to adhere to the STAY program plan. </li><li>Provides students within the program the necessary support via with assistive devices, supportive technology, and provide assistance accessing the facilities. </li><li>Monitors student achievement and/or needs and communicates identified concerns and/or observations regarding student needs to the classroom teacher, the Director of Student Support Services, clinical counselor, and/or the nurse leader. </li><li>Directly works with a small select group of students who are identified as being At-Risk to implement a goal-based intervention program in conjunction with their school counselor. </li><li>Acts in a professional, pleasant manner with respect to the students' and teachers' needs at all times. </li><li>Enforces policies and rules governing students. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of information concerning students and parents. </li><li>Assists in vocational, academic, or special education classrooms/settings in other paraprofessional capacities outside of the STAY program, if needed. </li><li>Performs other tasks or duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position may require long periods of standing and sitting. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:This is a school-year position. The work year is 182 days to include the day prior to the opening day of school, Tour, or a professional development day, and 180 school days. Salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Non-Union Paraprofessional Salary Schedule. Fringe benefits are in accordance with the Non-Union Personnel Benefit Policy.</p> <p>EVALUATION: In accordance with the School Committee Policy TITLE:Paraprofessional- Supporting Transition of At-risk Youth Program (S.T.A.Y.)</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Must hold at least an Associate's Degree. 2.Must have prior successful experience working with students with social/emotional/ and mental health-based difficulties. 3.Must have strong communication, organizational, and computer skills. 4.Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 5.Must be flexible, caring, and consistent when interfacing with students, families, and colleagues. 6.May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent-Director deems appropriate and acceptable. </li></ol> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support Services</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To work with individual students returning to school from long-term absences due to medical and mental health-based treatments; interface with academic and vocational instructors to develop class strategies and implement individualized instructions that meet the needs of each individual student within the program.</p>
